Tried and i can get the middle bits and near the tip bits sharper but the bit near the handle is tricky to get sharp at all. Tried a few diff ways from watchign youtube but its tricky. Im not sure im doing the angle right or maintaining the angle im just trying to keep about 3/4 of a centimetre off the stone kinda angle.
At first i was doing it medium then when it wasnt working i tried pushing harder when swiping which gave it a bit more of a sharper edge but i a lot of metal was coming off them dark bits that clump on the knife a lot also i duno but think the coarse side is a little chiped now lol i duno how but after trying for a hour on the knifes i went into it again on one later and when i was on coarse side it wasnt swiping cleanly and stopping on like a dot in the middle of the stone or somit, weird.. Did try cleaning it to see if it was just some bit there but dont think it went away or the edge of the stone which is a bit stuck sometimes when starting on the side edge of the stone then swiping through the length of the stone.
Cut my finger a little lol ah well seems to have closed up was just a tiny bit. Just worried cos of the metal stuff on my fingers as well and hope the stuff doesnt get in the wound.
Ordered a steel for 6 quid off amazon incase i need it, i duno if i will like but maybe the edge isnt straight after trying to sharpen em for first time maybe i messed em up a tiny bit i duno.
Got one knife kinda sharp most of the length of it tho the bit near the handle where it starts isnt sharp enough yet still.
Btw a steel will help any knicks in the knife at all wont it?
Kept trying the paper cutting with some a4 printer paper i had laying about. Mainly only cuts when middle or a bit futher near the edge. Trying to cut it when the paper is straight is tricky due to when trying to cut it the knife bends the edge of the paper most of the time. Unless i just suck at trying to cut paper with a knife
Edit - redone 2 knifes and came out better as didnt press as hard and went slower and think i maintained the angle a lot better on both sides. Can cut paper tho not as good as expensive knifes probably would if sharpened right as mine are all cheap ones under a fiver.
