Knock Knock

Ok, seems odd for CV joints to go so soon though isn't it? I did more miles in my last saxo in a year than this one has on it total and it is 2 years newer.

Turn the wheels from side to side full lock to full lock and listen.

CV joints are notorious for failing in Saxo's and 106's.

it'll be the CV joint/boot, trust me.

Does it do it when you go lock to lock from reverse to forwards at slow speed?

It might just be that the boots cracked a bit, and is letting moisture in. Packing out with grease will probably suffice short term...

If all else seems fine and it is also occuring during an emergency stop, I'd say CV joints :)

No noise.

My mind just did that thing oldskool (pixellated) lemmings did when they died....Hands on head, shakey, boom.

Thats weird.. because my mind constantly emulates hitting the "nuke'em'all" button.. i think this is OT though..

My old fiesta had a similar problem. A kind of knocking/creaking from the front of the car when going slowly over bumps etc... but NOT when cornering, accelerating, braking etc.

Solution - maybe not the best, but sure stopped it doing it. Spray grease onto the droplinks (think thats what they're called, maybe someone will know better!). There was a little rubber seal over the join on them that I could feel creaking/vibrating slightly when a friend bounced the front supension. The joints in question were just to front of the front wheels and stuck down slightly from the rest of the suspension gubbins....

Hope that helps! I found it an annoying problem too!!

EDIT: Just read your original post. Just try holding the end of the droplinks whilst bouncing the front suspension...

Right got worse, a lot worse.

It's only when the passenger side wheel goes over a bump, and now its almost every single pothole and its turned to more of a rattle than a knock. Feels like something is gonna drop off.

Not the droplinks MrFunex, they aren't budging and are 2000 miles old if that and torqued up correctly.

And think I'm gonna be boring and just get the wheels done silver.

Bit of a longshot, have you checked your spare wheel cage?

I know mine did this for a bit in my first VTR when going over bumps and the like. Turned out it had slowly worked its way loose over time. Simply rescrewing in the release screw (located in the boot) fixed it.

GT3 - it could be the droplinks... Is your car lowered at all? And did you use genuine citroen/pug droplinks when renewing? Only people on the PugGTI forums have reported non-genuine droplinks failing within weeks of renewing on lowered cars due to the extra stress they're under.

I've put cheapo droplinks on my 106 (£6.99 each!) and am waiting to see how long they last before replacing. There was no way I was going to pay £45 each for genuine ones, but people do report that they last a lot longer.

Spare wheel cage was removed ages ago.

Car is lowered 35mm. Used genuine febi/bilstein droplinks but didn't pay £45 each thats for sure ;)

Car is so bad now I'd say its undrivable, garages are fully booked till Wednesday because of bank holiday etc. Desperately need my car this weekend :(

Can you get underneath it? Jack it up, have a nosey around underneath and see if any of the lower arm bushes look shot? [edit] sorry, just re-read the first post in the thread....it's not that then!

If it's a clocking related to going over bumps - as opposed to turning corners or accelerating/decelerating - it's probably ARB related...

I didn't think Bilstein made droplinks, I thought they made shocks and springs, and Pug/Citroen made droplinks... If Billy do uprated droplinks to handle the extra stresses of being lowered, can I have a link plz? :p
