Korean Grand Prix 2013, Yeongam - Race 14/19

If it was a 1pm race, id probably skip it

I've got plans Sunday, but won't be leaving until about 9:30am, which works out perfectly.

I don't understand Bernie's drive to get races to be run at night or odd times just to make them be on TV at 1pm in Europe? Its pretty inconvenient, especially during the summer.

There's a reason Canada always gets one of the highest viewing figures of the year, its prime time evening viewing.

Misguided on what ?

The "WoooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooo" :D

Hah, it's customary now. I won't change that no matter how dominant Vettel is! :D

Shall we just skip strait to a bit of bickering, claim its all the car, wish some DNF's on Vettel, close the thread and reconvene here in a fortnight?

:D:D

You know that should you miss this one, then it's bound to be an awesome race......

Yes I am praying!

There is always a misguided optimist

ill probably watch this one if my ISP supplies me with enough bandwidth for sky go.. should be good at that time actually

There will be loads of bandwidth on sky go as not many people with sky watch it :D

me either

my favourite time is really early actually. it gets me out of bed and i still have the whole day!

Ha, its not skygo, its my isp. I get 200KBps on a very very good day! (i think i have had a recent upgrade)

if the race is on at 7pm the throttling from my ISP hurts!!

Oh lool they're allready com plaining about money for next year. Look, eyes are on us, lets get some media attention. Like fthey're are going to give you a btter deal, they allready have to many races and that was before new york paid its installment.

F1's sanction fees rely heavily on taxpayer subsidy from national governments. There's only so long that the promoter will put up with making these huge losses.

Korean Grand Prix organisers say the event will bring long-term benefits to the country - despite the race making a loss of $36 million this year.

The event is yet to post a profit since being introduced to the calendar as part of F1's expansion into Asia - 2010's race lost an estimated $50 million and that increased to a reported $56 million the following year.

Mark Webber has warned that Formula 1 must be careful not to leave itself with a "vacuum" of star driver talent amid the increasing tendency for teams to employ drivers with financial backing.

There already is theres isn't anyone to take Lotus, RBR or mclarens second seat. And no one on the good looking good. They're all looking like midfield drivers or crap drivers. Theres really nothing that you seem glimpses of brilliance, like you did with Ve, but, alonso, msc etc.

I rate Hulkenberg highly, but I think he needs a chance in a decent car soon before he is overlooked and forgotten about. The whole height/weight thing could count against him is troubling though.

He showed his natural speed in A1GP.

Have to admit that I do wish that Raikkonen went to Red Bull and Hulkenberg went to Ferrari. At this rate, I think he's going to end up another Alesi. :( Fast, highly regarded driver who always ended up in the wrong team at the wrong time.

It would be a massive waste of talent if he ends up stuck in the midfield for the rest of his career, as he certainly has what it takes to fight with the current leaders of the pack. His only options are Lotus and McLaren. If he doesn't secure either seat, I will be so disappointed. :(

Hulkenberg needs to become more consistent to demand a top team. He's had flashes of utter brilliance, but many more mediocre races. He's clearly got the talent, but he needs to up his games in the races he's not setting alight, and then the top teams would jump for him. He'll be well suited to Lotus next year - a very good driver in a very good car, but assuming form remains the same as this season (highly unlikely of course given the sheer number of top men leaving and apparent continuing financial issues) I can't see him winning a race. A less crash-happy version of Grosjean.

As much as I hate to admit it, because I absolutely adore(d) the bloke, Alesi was only above average. The speed he showed at Tyrrell was down to the Pirelli tyres. At Ferrari he was comprehensively outperformed by Prost and was the equal of Berger. Pedro Diniz occasionally got the better of him at Sauber. Prost and Jordan were disasters as both teams went downhill.

I loved Alesi's exuberance and flair, his aggression and passion, but it all waned after he left Ferrari. And while he probably would have won the title in 1992 had he gone to Williams (presuming Mansell wouldn't have rejoined), it would only have been down to having the vastly superior car.
