Kraken or alternative?

Hi all.

Since going 4k I've grown tired of the noise my Titans make. I tend to run my fans at 100% when temps reach 75c and at 4k that's pretty much all of the time.

I've bought two Corsair H55, a triple rad stand and grill I intend to mod but no brackets. Are there any alternatives to the NZXT Kraken, or, dates when Corsair are launching theirs?

TIA

I think the Corsair one for nvidia has been shelved. Nothing on their website about it.

Alternative is to go down the mod route and either get a custom bracket made or use the tie wrap method to strap the pump onto them. I did the tie wrap method on a GTX 580 and it was very successful.

I just used a Corsair H55 and a NZXT X41 AIO on my 970 SLI with the Kraken and it has been really successful. My temps have dropped from 62 / 75-80 to 45 / 50

Although now I wish I would have gone for two X41's as it cools the GPU better than the H55. Saying that reason I got a H55 as it was a £30 refurb.

Ahh a fabled ALX thread where he asks for advice.
Wonder if he'll take anything anyone says onboard....Like, turn your fans down?

I'm not taking corners here but he did mention elsewhere that you seem to follow him around a lot. Is there something you'd like to tell us?

Andy: Shirley you can get waterblocks for them? Considering the wedge you've spent on them in the first place, a couple of blocks shouldn't put too much strain on your finances.

According to Shankly, Humbug and ALX i follow them around. They're the only people to come to that conclusion, all of whom seem to have overinflated egos, coincidence? Probably not.

The truth is, i'm normally critical of the things they posts because what they post is moronic, not my fault i don't care enough for hurting their feelings.
(i do like shankly though, so yeah go out of my way to quote him when i can ;) :D)

The HG10 n780 (Nvidia bracket) was debuted with the H110i and Amazon US has that coming in stock around 4 weeks time, so I'm guessing we should see it in a month or so, don't take my word as gospel.

There really should be a Corsair rep on here to clarify.

Fair enough. I don't know them well enough to pass judgement, but you do stand out as being present in most of ALXAndy's threads so I jumped to a conclusion that you might have the hots for him then :D

Whatevs, I like the drama as much as I like the info I find the the GPU section. It's like staring at a creche through a window sometimes, the amount of toys that get flung around because someone likes a different product to someone else is astonishing.

*retracts back to shadows*

I used to run a Kuhler 620 on a stock EVGA GTX 480. Managed 960mhz on the core with 63c in Furmark. The H55 is identical to the Kuhler which was why I chose it :)

What I'm not sure of is which bracket I want to use. Obviously not going to use cable ties on Titan Black but there was a guy on the auction site making them who seems not to be any more so I was hoping some one knew who he was.. I don't really like the Kraken hence my waiting..

If I turn the fans down the cards will either throttle or go into the 90s. Neither of which are ideal. Any road, playing games at 4k puts enough stress on any GPU set up which results in noise. With a AIO you firstly shave off around 30% of your temps (leading to safer, happier cards) and secondly all you get is the ambient noise of the 120mm fan and nothing else.

As for following me around? blame my 'ego' as much as you like. Fact is you still follow me around so less of the stalker like excuses and face up to what you do.

I upset you over X99, you've not gotten over it so you feel the need to attempt to trash every thread I post or type in.

It's absolutely nothing to do with my ego, more to do with your hurt pride.

Water blocks alone will run more than the entire AIO system I have planned mate. Then there's rads, pumps, coolant, tubing, fittings ETC.

I've got a good idea here. Basically I've got a 360mm rad stand that I intend to fit a cooler at each end of with the hoses coming out of the middle (so one upside down the other the right way up) and one of these -

To cover the sandwich so I can't catch my fingers in the fans. It should bolt in upright and be fully removable :)

Only someone with an overinflated ego would come to that conclusion.
I still haven't a clue what you said about X99, so god knows where you're coming from with that.

I still think it's funny, i'm supposed to only follow you, Bug and Shankly around...make your mind up, which of you do i follow? Can't possibly follow you all...

Or much more likely, i post too much on these forums. I mean, go through my posts and count how many are replies to some rubbish you've posted.

/psychology mode.

It's not like I bait you or mention how you will probably show up, is it? In fact, I don't even think of you at all Tony. As I've pointed out, you usually show up any way. I don't make it my life's work going around the forums baiting you.

The fact is I am a very happily married man with a lovely life away from computer forums. Seriously? you don't even get a second thought.

I really don't understand why you continue posting with your theories on me. It seems you are a little obsessed with me as well as a couple of other members here.

As I said to you before, that gives me power over you. The very fact you can't help posting spiteful crap in my threads shows that you allow people to control you.

Any way, all of your rubbish aside let's get on with this thread eh?

OK, so the bracket came. It's basically a 360mm bracket for a triple rad.

It goes here, and boy, for £12 it was a right result.

OK so it was time to crack out the PC suitcase and dig around for a brand new set of 120mm purple LED fans :D

Then assemble the unit.

That looks kinda ugly, but I have one of these on order. All I need to do is cut out a couple of the bars to allow the pumps to fit through and then use it as a cover.

Total cost of that was £8... Any way, here's how it goes together.

All I need now are the GPU brackets. Hoping I can find the dude on the auction site who was lazer cutting custom ones.....

I have a spare H80i knocking around, would love to attach that to my 780SC and try to get the temps down a touch.

Subbed not for the stalker issues but the actual content.

Thanks Josh.

Yeah my AIO cooled GTX 480 was just other wordly tbh mate. 63c in continuous Furmark and 960mhz. It was quicker than a stock 7950

Here it is. Last time around I didn't care about the looks..

Really not pretty at all....

But it really did work.

In fact, in Custom PC magazine last month they built an all AIO cooled PC for less than a grand with a R290 in it :D That's what really spurred me on tbh.

When using reference cooled cards in sli, i stuck a 120mm fan behind them. Shaved a good few degrees of a pair of gtx 470's, which were some of the hottest cards around.

Already done that. Made a custom plate for the Cosmos 2 and put it here..

Which is about 7" back from a 200mm intake fan. You can really feel the air on the GPUs but it's still not enough to keep them quiet.

It wasn't anywhere near as bad when I was running 1080p but now? the cards are literally under full load all of the time. Time to go water...

Good thing is I did this ages ago.

Which will bring air into the top rad. Not worried about the bottom one it will be close to the 200mm intake :)

Hmm. Well I took a look on Corsair's site and..

http://www.corsair.com/en/hydro-series-hg10-n780-gpu-liquid-cooling-bracket

The Hydro Series HG10 N780 GPU liquid cooling bracket allows you to adapt a Corsair Hydro Series liquid CPU cooler (not included) to your GPU. It’s compatible with reference design NVidia GTX 770, GTX 780, Titan and Titan Black GPUs, and it installs quickly and easily.

So it appears it's already out... Gibbo and pals, any idea when you will get them?

Seems like he has a holiday Andy, and deserved. How on earth he has got away with it for this long is beyond belief. I remember him stirring in some threads last year which actually put me off this very forum.

But anyway thanks for providing pics, I am going to get round to modding the GPU with an AIO cooler myself when I get the time.

I'm thinking he means behind them outside the case not In front of them , I could be wrong though :)
