KRYPTON EXTREME INTEL XEON X5650 2.66GHZ EVGA SR-2 OVERCLOCKED BUNDLE

I'm probably gona get this. I know very little about overclocking and would rather pay the profesionals at overclockers UK here to do the job right. Their not asking for a lot for their work, so I thinks it's a good deal.

the only thing I'm concerned about is the 1 year only warrenty. With this money I'd want 2 or more.

can anyone reccomend what power supply I'd need with this? I think I will be using 2 cards in SLI/crossfire

Hi Lee

welcome to the forums :)

the SR2 that we had in recently was astounding. the warranty is our standard returns warranty, but the amount of time that is spent on a bundle like this, you should not have any issues. the manufacturers warranty is also there, eg. 3 years with the intel chips, lifetime with corsair etc.

i would personally go for a 1200w power supply or more if you can find one.

look at the 1200w corsair proffessional. and the 1200w be quiet is good too. you would need a bigger supply if you have more power hungry cards though

rjkoneill,

thanks for the quick answer on the PSU.

I thought the manufacturer's warranty is void if their products are overclocked or tinkered with in any way.

Doon't want to bug you on this but can you tell me if the manufactur 3 year cpu warrenty is still valid even if overclokers uk overclock it?.

just that I'm VERY serious about buying this in a month or two.

warranty on the components is as follows

Intel Xeon X5650 - 3 year warranty [they cannot tell if a chip has been clocked]
Corsair Dominator GT - Lifetime warranty
EVGA SR2 - 3 years

the warranty for the overclock is only for a year but that is just for the overclock [which lets face it, will not change]

ocuk will honor the warranty and of course you have access to our support channels for overclocking assistance long past the warranty expiration.

you have access to our webnote system and more importantly our customer support forums.

I personally moderate the technical section of that forum and have a great team of knowledgable techncial staff who get problems resolved quickly :)

OK guys you win me over and now answered my question... I just wanted re assurance on this issue due to the amount of money involved. You can understand spending 5K+ on a beast and it dies and no back up waranty. You can imagine one would contemplate suicide :)

who is the guy I need to phone up and make me this beast :),

Can I get a quote for this but with liquid cooling for the cpu and gfx cards, I dont want fans caus i hate noise.

that is totally understandable

as mentioned - all you need to do is post in the support forums and ask for me

the persona you need to speak to is NathWraith. i will work with him to specify to your requirements.

for understandable reasons we tend to advise against courier transit for systems like that.

i will point him at this thread tomorrow morning so we can get the ball rolling :D

I was going to say this baby need picking up could not trust transit at all!!!

I like the look of them EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper 1536MB, but some one said the water cooler sucks and so not so sure., can you guys fit a proper water cooling system for the 2x cpu and 2 x sli gx480 ?

I guess I should stop posting as I'm now making this thread go off topic!

p.s will I need to speak to my electricity supply to warn them about the extra power needed!!!!!

You might need to get them to build you a nuclear power station! :p

Seriously, I'd suggest you give it a dedicated power socket (i.e. not an extension lead with half a dozen other devices), and think about heat dissipation. All that heat has to go somewhere - and that means straight into the room.

Good luck!
