It seems bizarre that a 17 y/o can legally walk around open carrying a borrowed autmatic rifle in the street. Equally though it seems ludicrous that 3 unarmed men should chase and attack someone armed with a rifle then not expect them to use it to defend themselves. Regardless of the outcome there aren't any winners in this case though.

However, what truly terrifies me is the level of misinforamtion and race-baiting being pushed by the media though. It's clear they'll happily fan the flames of division and openly lie about the case if it helps hype up and sell the story.

I've loosely been following the trial and I'm not surprised that he was acquitted.

The dead and injured obviously wanted to do him harm, although I don't think that in anyway justifies their death / injury.

I feel that what really should have been on trial is an American society which allows it's citizens to go doomsday larping. I'm surprised that this sort of incident doesn't happen more frequently.

I think trying to harm someone gives them justification to injure you at the very least.

When they have a deadly weapon and you attack them, you are choosing to create a life-or-death situation as the armed person you are attacking cannot risk you using their weapon against them.

I get that many on this forum can't fathom armed common citizens, but I live here and it's normal to me.

I feel bad for people that are barred from the tools of self defense.

Yes things were definitely better when we only fought with hand weapons (and outside of armies very rarely with (cross)bows)

(I am aware that modern medicine would go quite some way to reducing the amount of people would die from their wounds and hence not be 'murdered')

What gets me about the faux outrage about murders in the US is the complete lack of perspective and the frequent hypocrisy ...

A lot of the same people talking about how terrible the system is in the US are the same people that championed Socialism in Venezuela (36.7 homicide victims per 100,000 citizens annually vs 5 in the USA).


In 2012 Venezuela banned private sales of firearms and ammunition hoping to lower crime rates.

I kinda agree, but I am sympathetic to the 2nd Amendment, it levels the playing field.

Plenty of people have been killed with knives in the UK (that isnt gang related) that were utterly defenseless, because well, we're not allowed to carry anything, not even pepper spray.

Yeah the UK laws are a mess, we should be able to carry less-than-lethal weapons like pepper spray and tasers, they are potentially life saving.

Weird how repeater crossbows are legal yet pepper spray not.
