'LAD'

How can you not say words like mate and lad without coming across as a total nonce.

"How's it going human man?"

"Went for a night out with the carbon based bipeds, had a great time"

Try being a first year at uni. The amount I hear 'Lad', 'banter', 'bants', the like, is horrible :P

I hate being called 'Son' from people younger than me, and a guy I work with always refers to people as "Mush". That just gets my teeth gritting.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It obviously hasn't gone through the mangler like it has here and been transformed into "lid".
Both are downright annoying.

I'm guessing that you live or spend time in the Lake District?

How in the name of God can you get so wound up over something so trivial?

Go climb a mountain . . . chill out.

It's quite a common term amongst young males in Ireland. I don't use/particularly like the singular term "lad" but I'd often say "I'm heading out with the lads".
