Thanks
Would this machine do everything I am after do you know?
Its £1700.....
Having just looked up these stats I think the clock speed is far too low....

The performance difference between what you have now, and the PC spec you've shown, is immense. We're talking the most basic possible, not even gaming ready, up to the latest available parts in 2024.

I would suggest setting yourself a budget, and then looking for what you can get. 300 could get you an improvement on the used market, 500-700 would get you a lot. 1000 would get you a very respectable setup or possibly you're in "Build something new with a warranty' territory.

I don't think you NEED to spend 4 figures to solve your problem but it might be nice to give your son a machine that's capable for a few years if he's showing an interest in getting creative with his computer.

I think you would be best avoiding an ebay build, I'd go for either learning what to get and build it myself (as said you could do what you want for £500 in second hand parts) or buy a prebuilt from a proper pc builder (ocuk or its non ebay competitors). Either of these will help avoid the situation you're in now in the future.

Thanks for the replies.
I will have a look in the week for parts and see what I can find. I know minecraft just as the game doesn't need much of a system but we have found once you want to start using higher rendering and want to use the bigger mods then ray tracing and all that stuff comes into play.
I just don't want to go through all this again by the end of the year.
I will also check out ocuk now

Morning all
So this is the inside. Any suggestion as to upgrade appreciated. I would be looking at hopefully rtx 40++. I think for future proofing and as I want the ray tracing and triple monitor ability.....
I sound like I know what I'm talking about far more than I do so please keep the technical stuff basic level?
It looks like you need a one slot, slot powered, low profile card, so from what I'm aware of that rules out RTX 4000 cards since none are available. You won't be doing any ray tracing with that CPU either.

If all you want is recording/streaming minecraft and want a new PC, maybe something like this:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £765.85 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I'd recommend building it yourself for the reasons given above.

Spending nearly 2K seems like massive overkill for your intended usage.

id get this with a RTX 4070s so you have the GPU power to screen cap at 1440p

Do not buy a system based around a 13700K or 14700K: those processors are very prone to failure.

I wouldn't recommend buying into LGA1700 now but at least so far those issues have been massively overblown by certain entities which doesn't match up with actual data - there is a slightly elevated return rate on the 14900s and evidence suggests they are failing at a slightly higher rate when paired up with Asus motherboards, but data from several retailers shows the AMD 7000 series being returned at a slightly higher level. There is always the unknown long term effect of these problems though.

EDIT: Though if on a budget you can sometimes get very good deals on some of the Intel 12th gen CPUs at a still respectable performance point.

Thank you all again for the advice.
I have decided I think I am going to get this
Ebay 116085796409
I know it is stupidly overpowered and unnecessary but maybe I will try to take over the world, although I'm more pinky than the brain.
I am reading though that that motherboard might be under powered for the 14900.
Does anyone know please because I am getting sick of looking at pc's :-)

It is not ideal, probably the bare minimum I'd consider running with that CPU, but it should be acceptable for gaming.

It doesn't really make sense to deal with the power usage and heat output of a 14900K unless you really need the performance. A 13600K/14600K would have been more than sufficient.

The spec I listed for you is much more appropriate for your usage and far cheaper, though you would have to assemble it yourself.
