laptop hard-drive data needs recovering

my missus's laptop went totally bust last week, and she's going absolutely frantic to get her music back. what i need to know is if there is a cable i can hook the mini-hd into my pc via usb or anything like that? We should be getting another laptop soon, so how do you think i would be able to recover the music and transfer it to the new machine?

Take the hard drive out and see if it has a SATA port. If it does, then just connect it to your PC via SATA

i already have, and unfortunately since it was a pretty old laptop in the first place, all it has is the mini-ide slot.
Thanks kae2, i couldnt find anything on overclockers, so i really wouldnt have guessed it would be on those.

you can get 2.5inch ide cables with usb on the other end for less than £6

i bought a thing of a popular auction site for £5 that has a USb to sata/Ide/miniIDE connector on the other end.

REally useful.
