Large Pizza Offer

Buy some travel insurance for a day ~£1 and you can get a year of half price pizza at Dominos, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut.

Not that I ever order pizza from those places but still a decent deal.

Papa Johns is way superior. Dat dip. Wish Papa John himself was still about though :(

I agree with you, their pizzas tasted way better sadly all the ones local to me closed down when PJ did a restructure in 2024 :( if we want one now it'd be a hour round trip.

The one near me is fine, I don't see a major difference in quality between there and papa johns.

We have a few independents, but honestly the quality is worse and they're not really much cheaper. 18" for ~£20.

Then we've got a fancy place that do really good quality, but they're only open for delivery at certain hours on certain days and they don't sell a single pizza under £16.

For us Dominoes and PJ fill a niche.

Had a dominos a few months ago the first time in forever.

Undercooked, greasy, just awful.

Used to love one back in the day, but local proper stone bake or super market pizzas for me now.

Just not worth it

Buy your own flour and make some for that much you can buy a 10KG bag of flour.

60 Pizzas in a bag!
Have you tried full fat Greek yogurt and self raising flour as dough, for me it is simple and makes a focaccia like base which in a square pan makes a belter.

The frozen takeaway style pizzas are many times better than Dominos these days especially when you factor in they're less than a fiver each.

I've tried many variables in baking and Pizza making. I buy that flour because it is consistent in flavour and quality and that's what I want. I use Gluten free flour but that's another story in the chapter of Pizza.

any bread flower works fine, most supermarkets sell pasta/pizza flour these days though.
takes likes 10-20mins to do the dough, tastes better if left in the fridge over night and used the next day, but still fine used right away.

to me cooking pizza from scratch seems easier than making pasta or something, people likely over estimate the effort it takes a lot
Tastes even better if left to bulk ferment for 24 hrs too...

Not saying dominos is the best thing ever (although sometimes I do fancy it, much in the same way I sometimes specifically want doritos) but are people really shocked or think it's some kind of gotcha that it can be cheaper to make your own food vs buying takeway/eating out?

Its because people say I can make that for less.. But then dont include their hourly rate for going and buying the ingredients or indeed prep nor cooking time.

The GP on Pizza's is good but the overall profit on a "Legit" takeaway isn't brilliant.

All this talk of pizza had me craving one last night. Wifey and daughter went to see the new Michael movie so i was home alone - perfect!

Watched the latest Boys, Invincible and have started ST Voyager whilst munching down on a Dominoes.

They currently have a new range of Italian pizzas, so had nduja sausage and hot honey sauce on an italian crust pizza - it was bloody lovely! £12.99 + £1.99 delivery.

The Crosta Mollica brand pizzas (can get em in Sainsbury’s) are genuinely good, way better than dominoes.

Not quite as good as a fresh Neapolitan from a proper pizza joint, but not that far off.

Costco £10 for an 18inch pizza is better. My go-to nowadays

Yes it's only cheese or pepperoni, but I can live with that
Whilst nice, tehy are very VERY doughy.
And the pepperoni ones needs a wodge of blue roll to degrease it lolol

1Kg bag of flour typically gets me 10/12 bases

If you dont have a pizza oven you can give em a really good started in a dry red hot frying pan, then top them and whack then under the grill
