Ah fair enough - thought you might have missed the post. Yeah the SQ7 was a diesel until 2021, then switched to petrol.
You can get the facelift petrol V6 (S4/5 engine) or even a hybrid at the top-end of your budget. Even with the batteries in the boot it's quick.

The disappointing thing about this whole experience is, you know service is going to be garbage from any of the marques. It is a real shame. I remember going to get my Dad's Escorts (the car) and being given flowers, red carpet, drive it out of the dealer etc...

God. Here is a depressing idea.

Insurance on the E43 is a grand. It owes me nothing basically - I paid £30k and it's still pretty much in the ballpark 4-5 years later.

I could get an ID5, whack ~25k in the bank, avoid £1k + road tax + servicing + MOT. £410 a month........nil deposit. Enyaq is £460/mo.

I don't really pay for my own fuel though.......serious man maths required.

What's the craic with cancelling insurance? I think I'll have to keep the E43 for the next few weeks no matter what. Can I then cancel and get pro-rate refund?

Fine have another option from me - sell the E43, ***** a load of cash into a Urus and be a baller for a bit. Realise it’s crippling you financially so sell it at a loss, and consider that you should’ve kept the E43 and popped money into the house instead

Currently trying to understand if I can live with a ID7 Tourer. I can get rid of e43 for 25, forgo this year's insurance, servicing and MOT. Only issue is it's only 8p a mile chargeback at work and I think I do well on the 45p mile rate.

I am finding this whole thing depressing. I just want a G Wagon or something outrageous, but the man maths is just not working. Especially for the next 3 years with another kid in childcare.

This was the scene outside today, like some kind of depressing signal of adulthood. Am I ready for a ID7 Tourer? Is it throwing the towel in too soon?

I mean the saving grace is I can bank £25k, and my bonus will cover the salsac pretty easily; so I could buy something *actually* fun instead of thinking an E43 is peak yob.

This thread is whack.

The criteria was more boot space, and SUVs 40cm shorter than an E-class Mercedes are being suggested.

The small SUVs are obviously no good, but the general SUV hatchback deck lid is what was appealing. I can't stack anything or efficiently use the E43 boot space.

I've just had a quick look at the ID7. It seems a really, really nice place to sit. It is quite a chongus car though - it is a fraction longer than the E43 and a tiny bit wider; but it just feels quite fat too.

I think I am going to place an order with Arval and see what they come back with in regard to timelines.

I can get the E43 washed and on Motorway and see what the craic is with pricing there, too.

Total curve ball but this frees up £25k to buy an E43 M3 Convertible

Yeah fully specced with Exterior Plus pack and Interior pack. There is a heat pump option but not sure I'd get the value back.

We'll see what Arval come back with. They normally have a conversation with you around factory order, and what is actually available.

Can't you get an E43 wagon?

There is a lot of maths going on here. I need to reduce my salary by quite a bit as the government changed childcare rules (you now get 30 hrs free from 9 months) - so I could either top-up pension loads or spank it on a salsac. The added benefit of the salsac is I avoid an imminent £1500 bill (insurance, tax, MOT, service) and free up the capital tied up in the Merc.

This way I can get a v8 and not rely on it for day to day. Thinking something British and thin enough to squeeze down the side return!
