Just a general question for those who have been recently:

I will be there as part of my road trip on 1st November and I wanted to know is it true that you get free drinks in the casino's as long as you are gambling?

Thanks

John

Yes, sit down at a table and soon a waitress will come round asking if you want a drink. Mind you if you make it completely free (no tip), then you'll probably be waiting a while for another. Small tip is still far cheaper than the bars though.

Yep, it's true alright! You'll get even more if you tip the cocktail waitress too!

Think about it this way, you are probably gonna gamble anyway. So you aren't paying $6-7 for each drink, so give the waitress a buck or two and she WILL look after you.

I've been SO hammered on free drinks in Vegas - amazing times!

EDIT: Not just tables either, it works anywhere you can gamble. I used to sit in Centrifuge bar playing the video blackjack in the counter and the barman was serving me free drinks all night for a few measly tips. :)

The savings aren't small at all if you know what you're doing. Drinks in Vegas are v.expensive.

If you're not too clued up on gambling, just sit at the bar and play the machines at a snails pace. The bar man will constantly top up drinks for free.

Belting, thanks a lot for that! I'm not a massive gambler or anything like that it's just some people say you do and some people say you don't?

Can't wait for Vegas on our trip!

Please note that the downturn has even affected Vegas - last year in a few places they wouldn't comp drinks for the video blackjack/poker unless you were betting $5 per spin  (you can still stretch out $20 for a long time if you only play when you are after a drink though!!)

We are only in Vegas 2 nights and we've said for gambling/drinking at night we would limit ourselves at $100 a night?

Look up gambling strategies that prolong your bankroll, the casino edge means you will always lose over time but games like Black Jack can have a house edge of as low as 1% and if you can use the right wagering strategy you could theoretically be there all night, had loads of drinks and only lost a dollar.

Last time I went I was there for 8 days and probably came out even from the tables over all.

In this time we drunk a lot though, always for free. 24hr binge then up to the suite ordering champagne to the room with your winnings.

God I love Vegas lol.

Never had this issue to be honest! We were there back in March and had no issues like this despite going to all sorts of casinos/bars. Personality goes some way too. ;)

As me and my friends were on a budget when we went, some of the Casino's (Caesars, Bellagio, MGM Grand) had too high a minimum table stakes. The majority are 10-20 dollars minimum stake. But if you go to Bills it's only about $5 minimum bet. Plus they do 2 pitchers of beer for $10!

A good idea (if you play it) is to enter a poker tournament one night, you may only pay like $20-40 to enter, but the waitresses will keep coming up to give you free drinks (tip them a dollar or 2)

I went to XS nightclub in the Encore hotel one night, and Pure at Caesars the next. Both amazing and saw Mike Tyson in Pure. Your best bet is to get a flyer from one of the club girls who hang out around the hotel in the afternoon, this will get you entry for around $10.

But BEWARE, drinks in clubs are ridiculously expensive. Luckily we got our hands stamped at the XS and went outside to a 7-11 for a few cheeky drinks, then back to the club to 'tear it up'.

P.S - Shopping in Vegas is also awesome!
P.P.S - Don't pre-book a hotel, go in and see if they have any upgrades, or complain to the manager like we did, and get a suite at the MGM :)
