There is also an element that a lot of older films may not actively benefit much from 4k, as whilst pretty much anything shot on 35mm and a lot of better 16mm film can give a good HD picture, you don't necessarily get the same sort of improvement by going 4k without potentially a lot of extra work and expense.
There is also an element of if it's an older film it might already have been scanned for HD, but might need to be completely rescanned for 4k and that costs a fair chunk and is potentially life shortening for the master prints they use, and there is a huge back catalogue of stuff that hasn't been done yet.
At the moment it feels like a lot of older films coming out in 4k are due to the likes of Arrow and the BFI doing new masters, often of films they might have released 5-10 years ago on BD, or have spent ages sourcing better material for.

Seasons 1-6 of Homeland recently purchased. I realise it was recently moved from Netflix and since I only started watching a week ago I couldnt watch them all before it was moved-as far as I'm aware they never released season 8 onto physical media 
It all depends on the transfer/restoration and it you are an audio freak for Atmos.
I imported Arrows latest transfer of the Conan films. The old Blu-ray which was half decent looked so washed out in comparison. There was so much colour depth in costumes and special effects and the mix for the sound was fantastic.
Now here’s the kicker since they did a new transfer all they had to do is downgrade the 4k release for the new blu-ray but you will lose all the bells and whistles.

Ah, I understand. That's nothing new from them. I've 'double dipped' on VHS/DVD/Blu-ray over the years. Last one (I think) was my BR copy of Ronin. There are a couple in my collection that I want to replace because I would prefer said copy to have Dolby HD/DTS-HD instead of the lossy 5.1. I'm not paying £20 for Enter the Dragon 4k/BR version though, I dont want the 4K, the BR will suit me and my degrading eyesight just fine. Same goes for Kill Bill 1&2.

thanks I preordered it on wowHd was a little bit apprehensive as they have some horrible reviews. Thought they had messed up my order as it had sold out and I never got any shipping notice and they haven’t replied to my ticket but it arrived through the post yesterday

I noted that most of the bond movies are cheap now on bluray so I've been picking them up over the last few weeks. Goldfinger, Majesty Secret Service and World not enough arrived this week.
I don't intend building up a huge library. I'd like my favourite war movies though. Ice Cold in Alex arrived a few weeks ago.

I only own one Bond movie. Casino Royale which I got free with the PS3 when it came out!! Would very much like to collect the Moore and Brosnan films as they are very much my favs.
