Stereoscopic 3D gaming definitely! I didn't see an improvement in the gaming experience since I first installed a 3DFX Voodoo card and saw the Tekken-like demo showing a fighting Anubi (!).

Can't go back to flatland now. I hope S3D will continue to be improved.

Actually made me go "wow"?

Broadband - to jump from 56Kbps and barely usable, to 2Mbps was astounding.
My Uni's network: Similarly, jumping from 5Mbps to 100Mbps was incredible. It still surprises me how fast it is when I go back and use it occasionally.

Smartphone (Motorola Dext, even though I came to hate it later, was still mindblowing to start with)
Raspberry Pi - that price, for that machine, is incredible.

The ones that made me go WOW, (and I mean "jump in technology" wow, not "I haven't upgraded my PC in so long its a jump" wow):

(1) Creative Soundblaster

The jump from PC speaker effects/music to sound cards was bigger imo than any jump in the CPU/GPU market, bigger even than the performance HDD to SSD transition, and the Soundblaster was the Geforce of audio.

(2) Nvidia Geforce

Bigger imo than any other GPU jump including Voodoo, mainly because it brought about the beginning of the end for 3DFX, and mainly because it was such a big leap that ATi/3DFX didn't even respond with their next gen, they had to respond with multi GPU versions of their current cards and try to catch up in time to battle the Geforce 2.

(3) 3DFX Voodoo

The first 3D accelerator, boom.

(4) Compact Disc

CD > 3.5" 1.44MB floppy, that is all.

(5) ADSL

56k modem to 256k ADSL was a 5x jump but the biggest difference between dial up and ADSL was the latency drop. For the first time UK clans could compete with Euro/US clans on a level field (and compete with each other lag free).

sliced bread

going from 56k internet to 512kb broadband

the same thing again going from 512kb to 2mb, then again from that to 20mb :p

20mb > 30mb was 'meh', there is only so fast you really need your internet to be...

Playing the first Resident Evil, i couldn't believe a video game could actually make me jump.

Getting my first real PC and UT99 on the same day (pure heaven)

My first stand alone dvd player, it was a Pioneer chipped up for multi region and cost me about £400. I was totally gobsmacked by the quality on my 36" Philips CRT :)

Battlefield 3's Frostbite & Crysis 3. Graphics are stunning. Gave me goosebumps.

Hardware wise, I was browsing Currys & spotted a 3D TV. Tried the glasses and WOW, I was stunned at how impressive & immersive the experience was.

Playing first few levels of Halo CE round at a mates house.

More recently getting an M4 SSD and booting from it for the first time.

Amd Llano probably, first decent IGP I used that could play games at a reasonable res and detail settings.

Ridge Racer on Playstation - i just sat there with my mouth hanging open. Couldn't believe that I owned such amazing technology. Oh happy innocent bygone days. How do I recapture them?

Going from Amiga 1200 to a Pentium 75mhz PC running Win95 and then watching the opening to Command & Conquer.

That and putting a music cd into the cd-rom drive for the first time - the music sounded normal and not like a computer. Amazing!
