late payments

If I was paid late I'd expect the interest I would have accrued to be added to it. That said, I wouldn't stand for being paid late anyway.

Dude you are in Greece this is normal :p I know a guy who hasn't been paid in a few months time! Good luck anyway!

It's normal in Cyprus too and I have several friends who had it done to them, but it's still illegal! Employers just haven't noticed that we're in the EU yet (well except for the finance firms who can't siphon money off to dodgy dummy-corporations in the Bermudas quite as easily anymore) and that employees have more rights than they used to. The only thing different in Greece from places like the UK is that here it's easier for the employee to find out about his rights, either through government websites or (more usually) from foums like this one:p

I'm told this is more usual than you might think: companies invest in new equipment/premises/whatever knowing they don't have the money, and then try to save it by paying their staff late. If you don't stand up for your rights he'll keep treating you like slaves. It's likely that he's going to reply with the "Oh I know it's not right paying you guys late, but I justs didn't wantto have to let any of you go so I didn't have a choice". I've heard that one used before - guilt-tripping you and threatening you at the same time that he's going to start laying people off if you all insist on getting paid on time.

Bingo , it is exactly like this.
