Defoe and Bent?

Bent's never scored for England and barely has any experiance.

Defoe frankly has been terrible for England so far in his career, he's such a single minded player that if he isn't scoring goals then he brings very little to the table. He can't hold up the ball to bring others into play, he's poor in the air and he has no vision or creativity to speak of. So far he's scored 3 goals in 25 appearances which frankly is a rubbish scoring rate.

Crouch on the other hand scores a goal almost every start he gets and has over a goal every 2 games in his international career. He can also hold up the ball and can be used as a target man which is handy as firing up long balls is just about the only game plan we have.


edit: come to think of it I bet Heskey and Crouch would work very well as a partnership, I doubt we'll ever get a chance to see it though.

Super Emile would be in but he's only just come back to training! but I dont know about him partnering Crouch?

If not Bent then id have Crouchy! Is Johnson injured? I dont know why im asking that he's not scored for England either has he?

To be fair to Defoe how many England games has he started and how many has he come on in the last 10 minutes? I doubt he's even had 5 starts.

Personally I'd go with Crouch and Bent up front with Defoe a more than able sub.
 
i think we'll be more use with midfield bombing up with 1 man supply the knockdowns, crouch. Our midfield are more proven goal scorers at international level than bent
 
Crouch has played against some decent sides, spain,croatia,austria, paraguay.

If crouch is our saviour then English football is in serious trouble:p

Firstly Austria and Paraguay aren't decent sides and Croatia are only being made to look good by our shocking performances.

But if you are counting them as decent sides then Crouch scored vs Austria the other day :p

He also scored vs Uraguay who by your standards must be a decent side.

The only top side Crouch has played against is Spain where he didn't score but on the whole he's scored reguarly against whoever we've been up against (according to the BBC he's got 13 goals in 13 starts) and thats all he can do and something that our other strikers haven't been doing.
 
I suppose you play who you play, but his goals have simply come against very very poor opposition, which is why i just dont see him as the quality player some are making him out to be, he is a good honest journeyman player,thats it, no pace,zero heading ability etc etc.

But its not his fault, it just shows how poor England squads are now:( we used to have a glut of strikers, where the hell did they all go.
 
The problem is the likes of Rooney etc can't score against the poor sides let alone the top sides.

Untill Crouch has come up against a few top sides in a major tournement he deserves the benefit of the doubt, he's done all he can do and deserves all the praise he gets.

BTW he also has a great record in Europe for Liverpool, i mentioned it previously that it would seem that european defenders find it difficult to handle him.
 
I think we all agree with baz here, croatia are not really all that decent, so what does it matter if we'v only got crouch, if he doesnt score its not that big a deal, he brings the team into it more than rooney or owen.

funny that, champions league defenders from most teams have a MASSIVE problem with him, we're a more physical nation, the other are flair, so they just dont know howto deal with lanky!

He also banged in a hatrick against arsenal last season. Whos top of the league?
