Is there any you know of that slower then the Golf R ?I've often wondered what the slowest car available with launch control is - anyone know?![]()
Pretty simple in mine.
Ignition on.
Sport mode (gearbox).
Traction off (really off hold button for 5 secs).
Hold brake.
Hold accelerator.
Sidestep.

Interesting question. BMW 120i/120d is one that springs to mind (with the Sports Automatic option).
How much difference is there between traction control and launch control when launching off[TW]Fox;30246120 said:My 530d is slower than a Golf R and has launch control.
All post 2013 BMW's with Sport Automatic transmission option have Launch Control.

Am guessing launch control also controls the rpm's (do you just put put the throttle to the floor and the ECU controls the rpm)

Am guessing launch control also completely controls the engine rpm's (do you just press the throttle to the floor and the ECU controls the rpm)
I owned cars with traction control like my RX8That's the whole premise of launch control, to control the engine rpm to minimise slip at the wheels and maintain a constant state of traction until the car is fully moving. Without it, you're relying on your own throttle pedal modulation through the revs as you drop the clutch.
Thanks that explain it..Traction control is active and monitoring for slip all the time, launch control just aims to deliver the most power for available grip in a launch situation.
The biggest difference is that with traction control, it's not concerned with getting power back on, so if it kills the power (assuming that type) it'll just die off and not accelerate much more for a bit.
Loads. Regular 1.8TFSI A3 S Tronic and the facelift 2.0TFSI S Tronic both have launch. The diesels might also.
Also, "slower" than the R? They aren't exactly slow when using launch.
