changing the number wont really get rid of the risk will it?
Right so what you are saying is, changing your number will mean you no longer receive the messages and the harassment stops, yes?

You don't read threads do you...
Yes. But have you read the OP? This man has threatened to murder someone.
So the Police have taken no action even though someone has made threats to kill.
I once phoned 999 to say someone had attempted to steal my car. I said I managed to get away but had a description of the man. The operator said: "it doesn't sound like an emergency and we need your permission to end the call".So the Police have taken no action even though someone has made threats to kill.
Keep the number and put up with the messages then, that is the only option based on the OP.
Ingenious! Thread can be closed now.Keep the number and put up with the messages then, that is the only option based on the OP.
You are so useful.
The police will act, and the offender can have their phone/ internet disconnected.Well, we are led to believe the Police will not take any action even though there have been threats to kill.
So bearing that in mind what other practical solution do you have?
It's an offence under Section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988.
If the person is on a smartphone, there are apps that block calls and texts from a given number.
