Hi
I have a Samsung LE32A457 connected to my HTPC by HDMI.
The picture is excellent and it all works fine;…………….

However if the LCD is not manually switched onto the correct source (HDMI2) before the HTPC is turned on then a message is displayed saying no signal.

If I then restart the PC the LCD suddenly recognises the signal.

It also happens if I’m using the HTPC then switch over to the TV then try to switch back.

Is there a setting I’ve missed as this is getting rather annoying:confused:

Thanks

It might have something to do with the HDCP handshake. I get a similar problem with my projector, I have to turn that on before I turn on the source.

as far as I know, this kinda happens with most sets. my samsung (earlier model) does it too, though once the connection is established, you can switch sources at will and it's fine.

That is slightly reasuring as it could mean its not a fault with the LCD, does anyone else have a problem with there HTPCs and LCDs?

None at all, although my HTPC is connected via VGA into my TV's D-Sub port.

So if this is HDCP and HDMI related that would at least make sense.

I'm not in a position to test mine under HDMI sorry.

This is a common problem and a real pain.

Try to download a freeware programme called 'hdmiOn.exe'. When run from within windows this should refresh the HDMI connection and sort out any handshake issues.

Only problem is that it's hard to double click an icon if you have no display! So you may need to set up a keyboard shortcut/macro to run it.
