LCD vs Plasma

I would definitely pay the extra £39 for the warranty.. I wished I had bought the warranty however I never got offered the option to do so. It's unlikely that the TV will break however at least you'd be sure that you were covered if it did!

A year or so ago this statement was pretty fair however it's utter rubbish now what with many of todays LCD's, espicially Sony's KDL-40W4500 which has a simply STUNNING SD picture quality!!

Not bad if your budget is up to a grand. :)

For the £500 mark, the PX80 is just the job. I'm in the process of googling the best price for one as I type.

On another note (sorry for hijacking), i have been offered £400 for my Samsung LCD. Considering i paid £720 for it last February, do you think i should sell it and get the PX80 for £499? It will obviously mean paying £99 more again for a TV, but do you think thats a reasonable offer for it?

What Model is it?

Erm it's good, but still not as good as the panny. THe w-series are good tvs, but when you look at their price compared to the PX 80 and to some extent the PZ 80, they are still more expensive and not as good for SD.

Sounds ok, I'm hoping to get £400 for my brothers from a guy at work.

Seems ok, but I don't really fancy having to pay £200 now for the PX80. The only place I can get them is RS at £539 including 5 year Panny warranty. Good price, but as hoping I would get more for my M86.

This PX80 craze is getting a bit silly now.

Yeah they are good for SD, but they are not the holy grail like people seem to make out. Decent LCDs will match it. The main thing about them was on Xmas day you could get them for £450 which was a bargain.

I have come accross the Samsung PS42A457P1 42" Plasma which has been noted as a good panel and costs less than £500. Comes with a 3 year warranty also.

Just watch for screen burn. These Samsungs seem quite suseptible to it.

The SD on the Sony holds its own against the panny! Have you actually seen a correctly setup and calibrated 40W4500 :confused:
And when it comes to HiDef material the Sony creams the panny!!

The pannys are good solid cheap TV's but NOTHING special like the Kuro's & 40W4500

I love these threads to be honest, half the comments are simply secondary opinions (people just repeating what they read/hear).

There is also the notion that certain TVs suit different people.

Im always impressed when I go into the Sony stores. The LCD's just look so rich and stable with motion so they shouldn't be discredited due to the technology, especially as the Sony stuff is now priced well. For example the 32V4000 at £350 is a bit of a bargain.

i wouldnt put a W4500 anywhere near a pz. they are good but not that good although they are better with sd, yes!

What :confused:
They are regarded by pretty much everyone in the field as the best LCD TV money can buy!!

If your gonna buy a TV then at least get the best in said technology!

LCD = Sony W4500
Plasma = Pioneer Kuro

Panasonics don't even come into the equation as they are nothing special which is reflected in their very cheap price tbh!!
