Le Mans 24 hour race - 2015

Top Gear maths suggests that 6 stinting the tyres doing 3:40 laps and 12 laps a stint means the rears will be on the car for around 4.5 hours!

They are never going to change the rears because they are worn out, as it doesn't look like we will get 4+ hours of continual dry running in one go anyway.

Well considering they planned 1250BHP and are actually running with just 600BHP I don't think its really fair to pass any judgement on their pace yet. They are effectively in a class of their own, LMP1-NHOWUP, for "Non Hybrid, Over Weight, Under Powered" :p

It is at the moment. Once the Hybrid system is working, it should be massively quick on straights. Which then will mean greater stress on the front brakes, which can lead to other problems as well as having to brake earlier, greater wear, etc.

The idea is different, but maybe it is too different. We will see the full 100% next year, hopefully.

They've probably had it going in testing, but in the more recent tests they've probably decided against any use of it, testing the car in the setup used for this season.

Wow. Race Director just dropped the ban hammer on the #1!

Every time deleted for "constant abuse of the track limits".

Ouch!

Anyone else think that the throttle was wide open? When it came to rest in the gravel there was a brief plume of gravel dust flying up from the rear right wheel.

Anyone know of a reliable online stream? I was hoping the WEC app would be useful but it's beyond gash. It doesn't update in real time, and it just lists the cars in order without their times. Absolute rubbish.

You on about video or timings? Not having any problems with the stream via the WEC website.

I paid for Eurosport the other year and it was utterly hopeless. It was hogging around 550 Mbps so absolutely raped data. I actually switched to one of the illegal feeds because it was identical quality but only used around 70 Mbps.

For live timing there are some good Twitter feeds and a pretty accurate timing table on the Le Mans couch kit page. Then there's the hourly update audio on radio Le Mans.
