Le Mans 24 hour race - 2015

My favourite week of motorsport - this and the TT

Couch kit is up for those not going (possibly useful for those on-site too) - has onboard feeds, radio LM link, spotter guide and other streaming. Brilliant resource.

Of course this is the week my mobo decides it's had enough of life

Hopefully I can get it sorted by the weekend, otherwise I'm splashing out on a chromecast and streaming it from my phone.

The Aston art car is... Horrific :(

Oh well at least the rest of the field looks pretty good, even the nismo McLaren Honda looks good for a lmp 1.5

The Aston is rather awful isn't it. I can't imagine its going to look good on TV either, the colours will just merge together and it will look a mirky off yellow :(.

Nismo McLaren Honda?

Nismo McLaren Honda?

Nissan came in with lots of hype followed by lots of meh. According to daily sports car they are now down to no working hybrid system and will be purely combustion powered which if true will leave them close to the lmp2 field.

So far it's all very McLaren-Honda.

Ford to announce Le Mans and WEC GTE assault this week

Ford will announce its Le Mans 24 Hours return in 2016 in the GTE class on Friday.

The car giant has revealed that it will be making "a major Ford Performance news announcement", which is known to be confirmation of its plans to race the new Ford GT from 2016, ahead of this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours on Friday afternoon.

Ford is expected that it will confirm two-car assaults with the Multimatic-developed racer on the World Endurance Championship and the Tudor United Sportscar Championship.

Always good news to have big manufacturers joining.

Sweet.

McLaren are getting a company to build a GTE spec 650s too from what I've heard. 2016 or maybe 2017 Le Mans being the target.

Well with the extra garages they're allowing from next year they need to fill it with something ;). More manufacturers in GTE are always welcome imo.

WEC has come on so much in the last few years and really is making F1 look like a bunch of amateurs (the sport as a whole, not the teams).

Its the ACO. They are one of the only motorsports regulators out there with their head screwed on properly.

Listening to practice on Radio Le Mans. I love the fact they are talking about how making one less/more pit stop than your rivals could win/lose you the race! In 24 hours, spending an extra minute in the pits can be the clincher! Mental!

Audi currently only 1 second behind the leading Porsche
Toyota currently 3 seconds off the pace.
Nissan... well, they're faster than the LMP2's. Just. 18 seconds behind Webber's Porsche. That's painful.

Also helps that the manufacturers and teams have a lot less input into the rules and the rules are sufficiently open to allow different solutions to the problem, yet tight enough that no one solution is the right way of doing it. Bravo I say! They haven't always got it right though!
