Le Mans Ultimate (Official WEC game)

Well i picked it up anyway as i love buying games that i'll never play for more than a few hours.

It's basically a reskinned rfactor 2 complete with all the long-standing issues/quirks associated with that game. The 'early access' excuses thus don't hold much weight as many of the issues are rfactor 2 issues that have existed for many years and probably won't be fixed anytime soon, if ever.

Physics are solid as you'd expect, sound is pretty decent at times but somehow the FFB is worse than rfactor 2 which is a bit odd.

It's going to have to improve a lot for it to have a future and not been seen for what it currently is (an rfactor 2 reskin)

I'm really enjoying it, had first go at it the other day, shameless plug here of a very rusty sim racer that hasnt sat in his rig for more than 6 months lol

Does anyone have difficulty with the LMP2 in this sim? It's the hardest LMP2 to drive in any sim I'm finding, well on default setup anyway.

Also, how do u alter the right mirror? In the old RF2 it was just a case of using Shift or Alt, or CTRL in combination with the seat controls to control left right and center mirrors, but nothing working for me in this game.

Yeah in Bahrain it just seemed to start chucking it down unless I set the weather to dry fixed it

Only tried it at two tracks, Sebring and Spa. Found it OK at the former, I'm not quick but was at least able to lap consistently in the 1:55/56's in the daily races that were there. At Spa I found the steering too twitchy and was really struggling through Au Rouge. Looked in the setup but the steering rack was already set to provide the most amount of steering range. Gave up and retreated back to the Porsche GTE car.

The GT3 update the other week is pretty good, would certainly put their GT3s ahead of iRacings at the moment.

Lots of splits as as well although I’m not sure how high the level is relative to iracing as after 1 day of playing I’m already in top split and have won every race bar 1.

Maybe needs more players, hopefully it will be a bit more competitive during prime time hours and outside of fixed setup.

edit: much sweatier tonight

^ VR runs fine, it's a lot better than ACC. Just bear in mind the VR functionality is not considered finished, although everything works that you need to - at least for me having tested with both a Rift CV1 and PSVR2. Incidentally I've just 'upgraded' to the latter but been left a bit under whelmed with the image quality, see the VR section if you want to know more.

I think it looks gash in VR.
Using opencomposite with Q3 maxed out res and 4xMSAA in LMU, it's still a festival of aliasing and blurry backgrounds.
90fps, so that's good at least.

Still struggling to find anything close to half decent FFB, but that's another story.

ED: Ok, having to set 540° in driver/game for GT3 and 480° for LMP/HY has made it a lot better (and setting "Steering resistance saturation": 0.3. in the controls ini).
Leaving it 900° and letting auto adjust sort it out doesn't work like it should.

compared to iracing/ac/ams2 how is the vr?

I bought this again a few weeks ago after my initial purchase at launch was refunded (coz the game tried to snap my wrists a number of times).

Really struggling to get the FFB to feel natural or even good. At slow speeds especially it feels trash. Any suggestions?

IIRC you have an Invicta, right?

I saw a vid from a guy using a DD2. He used motec to check the FFB trace and it turned out that setting his base and the game to 55% gain got the traces to line up and it felt a lot better according to him.
Maybe start at 50/50 and take it from there?

ED: Here you go

I’m still working on my settings for this as well. When I first ran it the FFB was inverted which was an alarming experience for the first time!

The game has poor FFB at low speeds, you're not going to experience any notable improvement in it regardless of settings. The Devs are working to improve it.

Other than slow speeds the FFB is fine on my Fanatec base using their recommended settings for rfactor 2 (which is basically LMU).

Thanks for this. I'll try this tonight.

Only for the hypercar class last I knew and in part I believe the lack of feel is down the suspension geometry that these cars have. Not that it bothers me as I don't get on with them at all, or the LMP2's. GTE and GT3LM do me just fine and I've no major complaints about the FFB on my lowly CSW v2.

BTW is it just me or is this game really popular at the moment. Did an online race this past weekend which had 26 splits! Great fun :D

Still an issue with GT3 and GTE, especially relative to Factor 2 which is what this game basically is.

Game is popular at the moment, primarily because of GT3 but participation falls off a cliff outside the beginner fixed series as average sim racer seemingly isn't good enough to get out of Bronze SR lol
