*** League of Legends ***

Anyone here play ARAM? Pretty much all I seem to do now. I feel it's kinda like skipping the first 25 mins of a normal game and getting straight to the action.

You should only move to draft once you have a few things.

1. A selection of champions for at least 2/3 roles, you also need ~15 champs available to you before you can even join a draft game, this does includes free champions though.

2. Understand about counter picking, the heart of LoL and draft mode is counter picking, someone picks Garen top? I pick Kayle and ruin his day, etc.

3. Extension of 1, you should be able to PLAY 2/3 roles, a lot of time you flat out won't be able to play your preferred role in a draft game due to pick order (your team picks champions in a specific order).

Once you can do all those, you will discover Draft games are far and away more fun than Blind as you get to say goodbye to being hard countered due to bad luck.

The above is true of random grouping, in premade counter picking is still key. Roles not so much as long as your team can cover the roles and have enough champs to pick in different order.

I find blind pick now very difficult to enjoy, just to trolly

I played some draft pick tonight with Tals, Chisuka and a few others

We had some good games and mashed people up they surrendered :(

I played Garen top both times and did reasonably well, i got out farmed both games but that's simple because i ain't very good at last hitting yet.

But i felt our communication was good and you better feel for the game with a team, like what a jungler does etc etc !

Had a funny one tonight.

Played twisted fate and some guy claimed top but every time you even went near the lane he would start screaming. Then just to push him over the edge i was running away with next to no health so he turned up to help which turned the whole engagement so i turned round and got the kill, thinking a kills a kill. Then he starts whining about the fact i stole his kill. Am i not right in thinking a kills a kill, or is that bad manners in this game?

Yes and no :) at the level you are playing a kill is a kill. When you start getting to defined roles then you're aiming for the two carries to be nice and fat so if they get the kill it is better. The support particularly should try not to get the kill. At the same time you don't want to allow the champ to get away. Ultimately in the game you were playing I wouldn't worry about it, some people just shouldn't be in the game ;)

Re the lane, it depends what you were doing, if you were in the lane last hitting etc and pushing it forward then he may have been viewing himself as solo top so you would be taking his xp/gold and pushing his lane. If you were coming in for valid ganks then that is different.

People get butthurt in this game very easy, like if you go and help someone gank and u get the kill the scream KS, but if you stood there and watch them get owned and die they cry too lol you can't win !

Just try to ignore the flaming and join as many ocuk as you can.

I have noticed jock your playing 3's a fair bit do you enjoy that and find it easier ?

Agreed the community seems to be increasing, loving having new people into the group.

Could you let me know the password for mumble please? I would like to play over the weekend :)

I'm pretty new to the game, and have only played Master Yi, Tryndamere & Pantheon.

Nah not really bud, sometimes like the last game last night its purely down to the fact it doesnt seem to take as long and it was late. But I dont mind it to mix it up a bit, I enjoy both modes.

Tried Dominion once and wasnt overly keen mind you, will need to give it another bash.

My first two placement matches on the smurf are now complete with wins, just eight more to win, putting some time aside tonight to try and get another few done. Who's rooting for winning my first 10 placements! :)

I hate 3's i'll only play it if i'm with freinds.

if one person on your team is crap your screwed and it depends heavily on champ select imo.

if you pick 3 champs with no cc your not gonna win.

Player skill and team work comes into it quite a bit but having a well thought out champion selection also helps. Havent really played much 3's, not even sure what the current meta for it is.

Yeah there seems to be a few more people about.

Maybe we should try to get this thread cleared and start a new one, and also try sorting a list out of people's favourite champions and usernames.

When i get to 30 i want to try and get a ranked team setup nothing serious but just for fun, and to try things !

Why would we make a new one? Mate this thread and the mumble community (also quite a few mumble guy don't even have accounts here nvm post) have been going on for 2+ years, spend more then a week to get to know everyone first :)

People have explained its to do with the meta but i still dont wholly understand it. I get the impression its the way the games 'meant' to be played but why cant you play it differently? For example i had a guy calling me a noob simply because i was Garen and in the bottom lane. My initial pov was the fact the top and bottom are exactly the same, although i believe its do with the meta.

Also had another ks situation. 2 guys pretty low, i assumed our guy was luring them back, so i jump out and kill both. I thought that was a good thing but apparently not lol. 2 less champions on the field.

Thoroughly enjoying the game mind you, a lot better than what i expected when i installed it. It was just a bit of a punt cause i was bored and never played any other games of this type before.

Also, someone from ocuk linked me a youtube video explaining the meta as its progressed but i didnt get it finished and now cant find it. Whoever it was, if you see this can you point me in the right direction?

I think you misunderstood what i meant.

I didn't mean start over just loose the 200+ pages on here so people don't get mixed up with the old stuff from old patches etc etc

And ofcourse the mumble and everything would stay.

i think that's the one !

The Meta isn't how the game is meant to be played cos there isn't a right or wrong way afaik.

The Meta is basically how teams are normally made up !

Tanky/ Bruiser - Top Lane
??? - Mid Lane
Support & Carry - Bot Lane
And A Jungler

(someone correct me if i'm wrong please)

This is where the beauty lies, there is a meta but the meta is there to be broken and to be adjusted - It's a shame that people will only notice these changes when a professional team does it in a game and it shows up results.

Many depths to this game.
