Lean to conservatory quote....

Avoid big companies like Everest and Safestyle if you value your time and don't want silly prices.

A decent fitting team would have the conservatory up in a couple of days. Plus extra if there is any flooring/electrics/plastering etc.

Got to love Everest, they quoted me £25k (before discount) for 1 front door, 1 bay window and 2 bedroom windows.

Suffice to say I told the salesman to jog on.

Went with a local company in the end. We were quoted 5k for our lean to conservatory, which is 4m x 3m.

Oh come on, you can't expect people to know that from the op? Being able to spot a ripoff isn't the same as knowing exactly what it should cost.

Well I know it's an expensive quote, but replying "LOL" isn't very helpful for the OP. I'll turn it back on you, for all you know it could be gold plated and 500m long and therefore a fantastic deal :)

Never go with a big company for your trade needs - people who aren't fully self employed, usually aren't at the top of their game.

Don't forget, you'll be, paying for their marketing, sales, big fancy accountants and all sorts with a company like Everest, they don't get business on reputation either so why should they bother to be the best.

Get some local guys in, you'll almost certainly get a lower quote - don't forget to ask to see work samples etc.

Yeah Anglian Windows tried to rip us off :p In the end we went with a local company although to be honest we're having problems with these, the patio doors keep dropping -_-

Sounds like they havent braced the doors using packers. If this is the case then they can't be very good either. You could have a go yourself, it is very easy to do. Just make sure you don't get a packer trapped behind the front piece of glass.

After 2 years of putting this off due to time and work constraints..I'm back on it.

I emailed 22 Window and conservatory suppliers this week

Here is my email...

Out of the 22 local companies 4 have responded...

One reply I got was literally this:

"total price to supply and fit would be £9500 inc vat
total price to supply only would be £6500 inc vat"

Manners not when I'm about to drop 9k...

Here is another

Dear Mr *********

The cost to do the work if brief after our conversation on Friday would be as follows:-

To do with a polycarbonate roof in the anthracite grey would be:- £8425.00 including fitting and vat and the cost to do to including a glass roof would be:- £9875.00. including vat and fitting.

EYG have been in business for over 45 years and offer a full guarantee on the product and the fitting, so if you wish to discuss further please feel free to call me on ***********

Thanking you for your enquiry.

What is putting the other 18 companies off? Is it because the groundwork is in and there is no money to be made on the actual windows , roof and installation...

I'm confused....

I had quotes for £9000 about 5 years ago all done, similar size to yours.

I am no builder but can pick things up easy working with my hands except for plastering, i decided to do the conservatory myself from scratch, yes it took a few months i took my time and thoroughly enjoyed it from planning to learning the brickwork, i got full height wall the right side with dwarf wrapping around to the left, its all insulated with false roof its literally like an extension, i had to bridge 3 soil pipes and remove the guttering much harder than your job by the looks of it, i managed to get the conservatory all done for £3600 and that was with the settee furnishing inside, shop about it can be done a lot cheaper than you think :)

Easy peesy

Don't really see a problem with that aslong as they are a bit more forthcoming when actually doing the work/further enquiries - they are probably dealing with a fair few tentative enquires and just giving you something to base off of. (They have given you exactly what you asked for, no less and no more - which sometimes isn't a bad thing with companies :O ).
