Leather jackets - yes? no?

Ignore the above comments. The same people will be wearing the clothes dictated by the masses. Wear what you want. If wearing a pink dress upside-down was 'in fashion' they'd be wearing it claiming to looked good.

I still wear my leather jacket when it's not too hot outside, it's a faded biker jacket and damn comfortable to wear, plus if it's cold outside then it keeps me warm.

I have a three-quarter length black leather jacket which I love to pieces.
It's numerous years old now and is looking the worse for wear so I'll be looking to replace it soon.
Personally I think leather does still look good so long as it is leather - faux leather just looks tacky.
Also only certain people can pull-off a full length leather jacket.
My wife can't, I can't - but put my brother in a full length and it suits him to a "T" for no real reason at all.

£300+ for a leather jacket and you don't know the brand would not be value for money.

Would you spend £300 on a HUGO leather or £300 on an unknown one?

the quality of leather found on a 300 quid Boss jacket will be terrible compared to one of an unknown brand. im pretty sure you wouldnt be able to find a Boss leather for that kind of money anyway unless its on sale.

the feedback ive had from women is that leather jackets make guys look sleezy.

the only jackets i would consider would be a Belstaff if i owned a bike or a Dior leather if i was skinny as hell.

Yes, I only really wear long ones as I find the short ones make me look like a doorman.
Especially if I'm on my bike because I really don't like wearing leathers so I stick my coat on instead which gives me some degree of protection.

I get mine from a leather shop in the outlet village, cost me about £300 a pop but they fit lovely.

Personally I think that's about right for a /good/ quality leather jacket.
Mine cost me £360 (reduced from about £600 lol), and it's stunning quality.
Previously I had one that was an identical cut (suit style) that I bought in dublin for £60, wore out within a month!

I'd never spend less than £100 on a leather jacket again, and that was only if I was /absolutely/ sure of the quality, ideally I'd spend £200+.

Things to look at are the respective colours of the panels (poor colour matching generally indicates the jacket was made from odds and ends from the tanner and will usually be a poor quality leather and stitch), the softness of the leather (obviously this depends on what kind of leather it is, no pigskin is going to be particularly soft, but if you're buying lambs leather and it doesn't feel like you're stroking milk, stay away :p).
