Leave a job your happy in?

OP you're mad. I'm currently doing a 1hr30 commute each way 3x a week for a contracting role, and it's killing me. I don't have any time to myself in the evening.

Not sure I could do longer and do it an extra day.

Definitely worth exploring the new one. If you've applied, you must consciously want some level of change, though it sounds like you're just nervous of the unknown.

I have applied for another role that's a big pay increase that would be more than even my next promotion could be by quite a big way.
It's also a lot closer to home aswell. And I pick the hours I work with my own schedule as long as the works done.

If I'm lucky to be offered the new job I'm not 100% sure that I'll take it. I'm sorting of holding back as I've never had a job I enjoyed before.

What do you think.i should do?

Go to the interview, learn more about the company and see if they even make you an offer. If you applied and it sounds like a good role then you should go and talk with them, don't talk yourself out of it before you've even met them let alone even have an offer to begin with.

You're hardly the only person in the whole of the UK with a job you enjoy, there are other roles out there and it sounds like you could earn a lot more money as well as free up a lot more time ergo you should be casually looking for new roles *even if you don't think you're likely to leave your current job now*.

Firstly you can always turn down an offer, but just keep an eye on the market periodically as you never know, you might find a really good role you like. Even if you don't get this one just chat to recruiters on Linked In and give them your CV, you don't need to actively apply for stuff (just talk to recruiters who already have a role and already think you'd be a good fit) but just try to get in an interview every so often so you can see what else is out there. Do that and keep your interviewing skills fresh, get a better idea of your worth on the job market and over time you're probably going to outperform the version of you in the universe where you get too comfortable in the job you currently like.

I've been in the property maintenance game all my life. I'm on a decent salary now and am very happy where I work, and I've worked for some absolute nightmares of clients in the past who have scarred me for life. Which is why this next opportunity has me on the fence.

It's a pretty hefty bump in salary but I'm really happy where I am and not sure if the money is worth it.

Add to that it's our tender year and I'd be really screwing over my company if I left now as they are relying heavily on me to win this tender.

The prospective new employer has asked for an interview, gonna go for it and take it from there. I'm in no rush to find anything, and I don't need a new job, but a 23% increase is not to be sneezed at.

Remember, you haven't got the job yet :)
