...was it Rotty that did it to his RX-8?

I've just put a White LED light in the front interior light of the Mondeo, looks pretty nice and lights up better than the standard halogen bulb. Only had the one as a spare so i've ordered another pair to do the rear bulb (and one spare).

I remember some pics of an RX8 (think it was) that had pretty much every bulb lit with LED's and was wondering if someone could drop some pics in?

Cheers,

Phil :)

Where did you get the LEDs from? Was it an easy changeover, or did you have to do more than just remove the bulb and fit the LED?

Very simple, one bulb in each unit (2 units in the Mondeo) which are 239 bulbs i believe (39mm), pop the old one out and the new one in, job done.

I bought them from eBay (£6 for a pair).

Mine were a group buy on Clio Sport :)

I've got an LED festoon bulb in mine. Looks good. Similar effect to AmDaMan's.

Also got LED front and rear sidelights, and LED brake lights.

LED number plate lights are next.

Cool thanks, may look into that for my Astra. The interior lights are a bit dull, and I do tend to use them a lot when getting stuff out of my pockets, setting up the sat nav etc. Will look into that.

If the stupid bulb in the high level brake light turns out to be expensive, I'll be doing an LED mod.

Although this will involve buying LEDs and reaching for the solder, rather than just buying a kit.

Done a number of mine, have to order some more to get it done but have currently replaced my footwell lights and puddle lights with blue leds (chav I know) and the front reading lights, I have got to do the main entry lights at some point but its the cost of them that I have been avoiding at the moment, looks loads better than the standard halogen bulbs though.

I want to change the interior lights in mine to LED, not because the light output is poor but to get a nice crisp white colour.

Problem is i've got about 15 of the things to change so if you buy good quality bulbs the price quickly gets out of hand for a largely pointless mod.

This is what stopped my ideas for LED'ing my interior and sidelights etc. not that I have that many bulbs but to do it properly you are soon talking proper money.

Interior
Main cluster 2x
Map Lights 2x
Vanity Lights 2x
Rear Lights 2x
Boot light 1x
Puddle lights 4x
Vent lights 4x
Glove box light x1

Exterior
(front sidelights already done)
Numberplate lights x2

Thats 18 bulbs inside the car! so 20 in total, i would only buy good quality LED bulbs so the total price is just silly.

I had the same problem; there are a total of 13 bulbs in my interior alone. Was lucky enough to find someone selling a good quality LED kit for my car so got the whole lot in one hit for £50. I've also done the sidelights and number plate lights. For that sort of money I'd say it's worth it..It looks so much better now and I shudder when seeing the yellow light from other people's cars! :)

Surely resistors and LEDs are pittance?

Not for decent quality ones. You can pick up the cheap LEDs off eBay but they don't tend to last very long. I bought some £2.00 Chinese LED sidelights off eBay and they lasted all of 2 months before one failed, and this seems to be a common occurrence.

Where did you get your LEDs from scratch?

Mine were bought from a guy on the AudiSport forums who had sold his S3 so had them going spare. I believe the kit should have been more like £100 brand new.

I have some for my sidelights which cost me £10 for the two. Crap quality stuff isnt worth it !!!

Shockingly £10 is still cheap for decent quality LED sidelights. The top quality PIAA sidelights are around £80 for the pair!!
