Left 4 Dead, am i missing something?

Right i bought this game on steam when it was half price and i had a quick blitz on it the other day on single play for about an hour or so, then i had half an hour online.

What i want is someone to explain what all the fuss is about? I really dont get the fascination with this game. To me it just seems like a mindless 'shoot in all directions with no skill what so ever' kinda of game.

CSS and TF2 are so much better.

I really just want some help grasping the plot and what i am missing?
 
VS mode is what you want mate, look for the 'ocuk l4d names' thread

in vs mode, it's 4x human players vs 4x human playerrs

one team is survivors, other team is special infected, you take turns to battle through the maps

it's awesome fun :)

playing on your own in l4d is boring

Come play with the ocuk people, and watch as you die within 20 feet of the safe room by "shooting in all directions with no skill".

Then watch as the other team safely waltzes into the safe room as you miss epically with the hunter and get rifle butted then shot every time you spawn as a bomber before being ritually burnt as a tank and dying without hitting a thing ;)

I'm guessing you either did coop or played with pubs which is worse than pointless.

You need good teams that work together with mics then it's a freaking awesome team game.

Also With "shooting in all directions with no skill" I'd like to see you shooting "human" hunters out the air or dead stopping them with a rifle butt off 25 pounces ;)
 
It's a team game, so the fun comes from working as a team. That's what makes it so unpredictable and difficult.

what are you on about? its VERY easy against ocuk people. no offense, but a lot of u suck at l4d.

Strange though, I know I havnt played a lot of L4D recently but I havnt seen you in any games. why dont you come and give it another go with us ;)

Edit: Give us a time and date and sure we can sort sommat out for a bit more of a challenge for you

Not working till wednesday after today (Love my shift times sometimes) so gimme a shout mate and we will get the beer flowing. Havnt had a propper drunken L4D match in a while

a lot of us do, you are right, fortunately a lot don't. Doesn't really matter to be honest. Generally we have a much better game with ocukers then we would with the pubs.

To the OP, the game is meant to be played with a group of friends/steam friends so if you are playing single player it will suck loads, if you play with pubs, more often than not it will suck aswell. Generally the fun is to be had when playing in a big community such as OcUK or PRC. The same will also be true of the sequel.

I'm away from 15 mins time until sunday evening, so probs won't be on until Monday now (May start up an 8v8 then ;)) but I'll give ya a shout when I next host a game.

@bledd, there is one time when playing l4d on your own isn't boring, try expert on your own, no bots and see what happens ;)
 
Its not a thinking mans game, its a drinking mans game.

GOTY for me personally, I dont think ive laughed so much at stupid situations in a game for a very long time. Booze + L4D = win :)

We play L4D for this thing called, erm whats it called again, oh yer FUN

there may be a few who only play now and then so may not be highly skilled but quite franky who gives a **** so long as you have a laugh

and btw must have missed your name on the steam names thread so cant comment on your skill level..............

Who was the clown shoe that played Benny Hill whenever the tank spawned. I swear the first time i heard that I couldn't play properly for half an hour. So many tears.
 
Left 4 dead single player is totally lame.

Left 4 dead multiplayer is totally awesome.

IMPORTANT -- Turn the difficulty up, best is the toughest. Otherwise it's too easy ..
