As with everything people feel strongly about the loudest people are the ones who are heard most and the loudest people are generally the ones who haven't put much serious thought into their position.
I would consider myself as leftist in many ways, for example I strongly support many socialist aspects, the living wage being one of them, a well funded NHS being another. However I don't feel the need to talk about it, I also don't think Corbyn would make a particularly good PM, he's too far to the left to ever be elected for one thing, it was a mistake for Labour to vote him in.
But back to my main point, both sides have the idiots that make that side look bad. Just look at Trump in America giving right wing people a terrible image, couple that with the hillbilly redneck image they already had and all of a sudden the "righties" don't look too good either.
