Legacy G Suite users - what are you going to do?

Oh the joy of speaking to support to reverse my “upgrade” to the paid version… will sort that tomorrow. Grrr.
I contacted them yesterday, to be fair wasn't too bad apart from that she couldn't switch me back straight away

I have now confirmed that we indeed have an option to opt out on the transition. However, since you have already done so, and there is no longer an option to do it on the Admin Console, we will be assigning the case to our Product Engineers and they will be the one to switch your subscription back to the Free Edition.

I have just asked them how long this would take as I have read on Reddit that they are letting those that upgraded keep the workspace account for free and not switch them back down to g suite legacy

Edit: This is the response back this morning
Thank you for contacting Google Workspace Support. I would like to let you know that we do not have a specific date wherein you will be transitioned back to G Suite Legacy Free Edition, however I can confirm that you are already added manually and this is already on the process of being rolled out.

Rest assured, you shall be transitioned back on or before June 27, 2022.

Thank *** if you feel you must swear, it should be fully starred. Do not attempt to get around the swear filter by partially disguising swearing *** I found this thread.

I literally just went through the ballache of consolidating my users in prep for "upgrading" to Workspace Business Starter.
Just been on chat and have confirmed with them that I am only using my Gsuite Legacy sub for personal use, they've switched me back.

Thanks chaps!

Sorted. Relatively painless chat as well.

Good news at last. I only had 4 or 5 e-mail accounts but I downsized that to only 2 when they first announced this. Looks like I should have waited!

Confirmed I use it for personal use, hopefully that's dodged a bullet. There's a lot of language about it staying on the "legacy G Suite" rather than "transitioning to Workplace" and that they "may remove features". I wonder if they'll keep legacy G Suite very separate and slowly degrade it over time... :o

Bumpety bump. I think I’ve hit the end of my tether with this nonsense. I bought a house with my other half last year and we’re currently undergoing renovations. Looking at all the fun tech I can put in, I’ve been a Google Home user since forever. Finally my girlfriend decided to install the app :)p) and play around. Cue lots of confusion… what do we find out? That of course, as a Google Workspace user I cannot invite anyone to my Home. So all dreams of a simple tech home with Hive heating, smart lights, Nest doorbell etc. Yeah not happening, thanks Google

Is it actually possible to migrate my data to my vanilla Gmail account? Are there any guides? Off the top of my head this would be about 100GB of email, contacts, calendar, photos, Keep, Sheets, Docs etc. and everything else in my Drive.

Edit: And would I be able to forward (and send?) email from [email protected] from my vanilla Gmail account too?
