I am a huge fan of first person dungeon crawls. This is a new game coming out that really nails it perfectly: grimrock.net
:D

Hello! We are experiencing technical difficulties (thank you notch :D ). It'll be a while until we can return. In the meanwhile, visit these links for more info:

haha Minecraft creator sent his minions over from twitter and crashed the website lol

Almost completely redesigned UI, first ever gameplay video, over 60000 youtube views in less than 48 hours, lots of high profile gaming sites noticing us, web servers crashing (thanks to Notch

)… Wow. What a week!

The amount of traffic and contact requests we are getting is simply mindblowing. We are trying to read every email we get and every comment on the blog but it’s impossible to respond to everybody, otherwise we would not have any time to work on the game at all. All this is really humbling. We were already 100% committed to making the best dungeon crawling game ever, and now we are even more jazzed up. Thank you everybody for spreading the word and please keep doing it!

Here’s a small status update of what has happened after the video release and what we are going to do next:
+ it’s harder to interrupt monster’s attack sequence by hitting them (done)
+ monsters do nasty counter attacks if you keep doing the forward, hit, backward routine too much (done)
+ improved monster death effect (done)
+ super secret new monster (done)

Next:
+ improve missile logistics – we know picking up ammo from the floor after every combat gets really tiresome fast
+ prettier mouse cursor
+ and of course more levels, items, monsters, puzzles, spells and other goodies

Dungeon Master on the Atari ST is my favourite game of all time, back in 87 i couldn't wait to get back in from work to play it.
I can only hope that FTL's other title called "Oids" which was released around the same time as Dungeon Master gets the same treatment but unfortunately is seemingly forgotten about these days.

Anyway great thread guys :)

This is lookin better n better everytime i see it.. want.. now. please.

Do you think they will make this available thru steam?? and price?

+ Character generation (wohoo!)
+ New character race.
+ 4 new talents.
+ 2 new monsters but they need more love before they are in alpha quality.
+ 8 new harmful conditions to make our prisoners’ life even more challenging.
+ about 20 new item graphics.
+ 6 new portraits.
(+ Juho has generated about a gallon of mucus.)

We have been working on the end game this week and the whole thing has grown a lot bigger and cooler than we initially thought. First we had the idea that there should be a chamber with a boss fight at the end but we quickly scrapped this as it didn’t feel epic enough. We want to make the ending really memorable to you as a player and we want it to explain some aspects of the mountain and tell you some of the background lore we have. So, instead of just a big fight, the game will climax in an intense multi-level combat and puzzle solving episode with a surprise at the end. We don’t want to spoil the experience by giving too much details, but just want to say that it’s going to be awesome!

Some other highlights from this week:
+ Antti has been adding new items to the game and we have almost one hundred unique items now. I think we are still going to add some more but I think we should have almost everything we need now.

+ We have added some more dungeon levels this week but they’re not in alpha stage yet. We have placeholders for two more levels and then all the levels should be in place.

+ Projectile routines have been rewritten. The old code was inaccurate, inflexible and was in dire need of some love.

+ We had our very first high profile vip visitor

at the office on Thursday. The meeting went well, except our second-hand coffee machine (yeah, we are that cheap

) didn’t co-operate with us, so the first batch of coffee pretty much vaporized into thin air somehow – we are a bit lost what exactly happened (believe or not, none of us are coffee drinkers). Thankfully the second batch worked out.

Oh, oh, and we have a new screenshot to share with you showing a new dungeon environment we haven’t revealed before!

Loved bloodwych, staring at the screen in all its yellow/black goodness (spectrum) Both myself and brother played it through and loved everything minute. Plus Eye of The Beholder (Amiga), Captive - anyone manage to complete this? (Amiga). Just loved these games.

Captive - iirc could not be completed - it was just randomness. I played Bloodwych on the Amiga mainly because on the C64 it was just to buggy to get anywhere near completion - though it didn't really stop me! Two player on the Amiga was great but, I believe, the definitive version was the ST.

Still waiting for this to come out though!

I remember coming up against a bug a long way into Captive, an incorrect password for a gate or something, that stopped you getting any further. Used to play it co-op with a mate, we used to have the weirdest conversations :

"I really need a new chest, the one I have at the moment keeps breaking"
