I agree £40 odd for windows isnt that much for something that you will use often. What makes me laugh is everyone who posts screenshots of the latest Abobe photoshop and claim its legit! must be some very rich people here if everyone can afford that sort of stuff!

I will be the first to say. Mines isnt.

Maybe they think "legit" means they paid a guy on a streetcorner for the disc :P

thats not true...

means you are a student collage/uni do give you free software not illegal software huge difference.

pirterting is stealing...and thats why people like MS have put up activiation to try and combat that.

making a copy of the disc however is not really illegal its just for backup purposes

Personally I think OEM copies should be £50 -for Home Premium

I bought 3x copies of Home Premium Retail, when they were £45 each

This. No one complains when I tell them win7 will cost them £40.

Then I point them to student software retailers, and since so many people qualify for cheap Windows, they get cheap Windows.

And AFAIK, the license you get with the student copies is not the OEM license. I've completely rebuilt my computer and reinstalling win7 was not a problem. Think I had to phone up, however.
