Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

Cannot find any in 2x8GB modules only dual rank seems to be 2x16GB modules but it's not very clear as most do not mention timings or rank.

I don't think they do dual rank 8Gb modules in the Fury Impact. They're quite hard to find in most modules these days at 8GB as the IC manufacturing has moved on to higher capacity chips. Even 16GB modules are single rank a lot of the time now.

Fair enough think I'm going to stick with what I have no issues with performance so far it's run everything great.

Just found some 2r8 ram sticks in one of my other laptops does this mean it’s dual rank ? The few games I have tried don’t seem any different. Nothing noticeable anyway.

apparently "It tends to improve minimum FPS rather than max FPS. It may be your dual rank kit has worse timings, you can use Zen timings to post the full timings of both sets."

I don't think minstadave meant to report that comment :p

Just added a 2tb ssd to my laptop so thought I way aswell check the ram while I'm at it and it's 32gb of 1rx8, shame.
Not upgrading it tho because I always play at the native res.

Anyone else have this problem??

I have the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro AMD 5800h, 3060.

The GPU power draw can be 80w and the performance be completely different to when it is at 130w (obviously).

However, this is a temporary problem that fixes itself when either you restart the laptop or disable the battery in the bios and do a hard reset.

It is not due to thermal throttling, as my temps are at around 70 on both the CPU and GPU, and the laptop is plugged into the mains and in performance mode.

I have read on reddit of people having this problem, but the only fix seems to be this disable battery in bios..

This has happened multiple times over the past few days and is really annoying. I did update the bios to the latest, and im sure i never encountered this before updating.. so looking at rolling it back..

How did you see GPU power usage? Afterburner OSD?

Yeah afterburner, the fps on doom eternal when it happens is 30 compared to 100 when at full wattage and there is no way of knowing until you startup a game and see the max power draw.

I've tried tweaking the bios, if that fails then I'll revert to a previous bios, try that and if it still happens it's going back to lenovo..

Definitely not had that. Do you have hybrid mode turned off ?

Yep it's discrete graphics in bios and hybrid mode off in vantage, never turned it on in fact.

Afrer changing some bios settings it hasn't happened in a few restarts, will test and then post the settings if it continues to not do it

Same issue after changing some bios settings. Now have rolled back the bios from XX49 to XX44, which is what I had when I bought it.

If i still get the same issue, will have to send it back to lenovo... such a shame, as its a great laptop when it works. This also seems to be a widespread problem, found a lot of reddit posts about it, quite a lot of them very recent.

Is strange not had it on mine yet. I don’t use afterburner but would notice the big frame drops everything has run fine.

Do you have the 300w PSU ? Other than that no idea tbh…

Yup, and the issue is that its so intermittent.. can happen for me anytime.

Hoping the rollback of the bios will work.. otherwise off to lenovo for a refund. Annoyed as i already put the new ram and SSD in, and the back cover is a pain to take off.

Very strange my Son has been on our one for hours today and no issues. We do put it into performance mode when gaming (Red power light).

It does seem it could be faulty which is a shame.
