Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

At the time I bought mine the 5 Pro had significantly better cooling than the 7 I think they are very similar now though.

I'd consider even the slim model if your performance requirements are lower, and being lighter was consideration.

ahhh, i was wondering about when the 12th gen processors would be out,

wonder when the 2022 models will be released,

cheers,

so looks like i'm waiting till febuary to get the new laptop... tho i can see it being out of stock fast like the 2021 models were.

I sold my legion 5 pro (regret) so then later purchased the legion 7, qhd, 11800h, 3070 140w

Runs really well a with a 980 pro 1tb as standard it is pretty fast, runs a little cooler, changed the ram to 32gb kingston fury cl20

Overall i am extremely happy with the laptop.

It's odd AMD left out PCI-E 4 support. Is there much difference between the 5 Pro and the 7?

Not much to be honest, a little better built chasis, rgb lights all over the shop and seems the fans are a touch more silent (now just browsing, no noise at all) but get loud when gaming.

I'm having an issue that Windows won't let me adjust the scaling on my 2nd screen when I connect my laptop upto my 4k tv.
I'm using the hdmi out and considering trying the USB c or dp ports but don't have a cable.
Has anyone any similar experience to point me in which to buy or any advice before I fork out if I don't need to?

any idea what sort of price these new models will come out at?, curry's have the 2021 Legion 5 with RTX 3070 on discount at £1199, its pretty tempting. i can probably get it down to £1115 with work rewards scheme.

Edi: pulled the trigger and got the 2021 version.

i'm kinda hoping the prices will be near the £1500 or so price for the new models, tho i expect that will be for the lowest spec one.. the video's say $1500 price.. so i guess we can expect the same ins £'s or more as usual.

Just wish i knew of the release date, i can imagine it will be like when i got my PS5.... spend months waiting to catch a place with any in stock... but loads for sale on ebay at inflated prices.

I got the same RAM with my legion 5 pro 3060, however it is still single rank, albeit good timings.

I bought dual rank 2rx8 (16gb x 2 = 32gb) and will be testing it out on the weekend to see if its any better.

When I bought mine I went for the baseline 3060 on a deal. But for me it's a general purpose machine that can also game so top end performance isn't something I was chasing.

I got the same ram as you with the machine.

Just upgraded it dual rank (2rx8) 16gbx2=32gb and it is like a different machine. The minimum FPS has shot up and its so much smoother.

Everything I have tried has run nice and smooth with no issues. It runs Civ and Age of empires perfect so is fine for me. My son was playing Forza 5 earlier and it was perfectly smooth well over 60fps at Ultra settings 2560x1600.

Which RAM have you used as none of them seem to mention timings rank etc in listings.
