Lens set - what's in your camera bag?

I haven't made any changes to my kit for a long while now:

5D Mark 2
Sigma 12-24 mm
Canon 50mm 1.4
Canon 24-70mm Mark 1
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS Mark 1
Sigma 105mm macro

I probably need to get out and use the existing kit more before considering an upgrade. I keep on looking at used D800s, which are really well-priced at just over £1,000, but the thought of upgrading the whole lens estate too just seems too much hassle at the moment relative to the limited use that it gets.

I've got F1 testing in Jerez in February and then a motorbike trip over the Pyrenees in April, then my wedding in June so perhaps there'll be more time to think about it in the scond half of next year!

Usually a selection of these lenses:

Haven't gone out with the camera in so long! I think I might have forgotten how to take photos.

5DII
17-40mm f/4
40mm f/2.8
85mm f/1.8

Wanting to get a 70-200mm at some point, maybe the Tamron VC.

If you really want to be depressed....add it all up ;)

I think the last total mine camera to I was actually stunned by

A mix of the following:

Canon 5D MkII
Canon 100D

Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8 L II
Canon EF 16-35mm F2.8 L II
Canon EF 70-200mm F4.0L IS
Canon EF 100mm F2.8 L IS
Canon EF 135mm F2.0 L
Canon EF 35mm F1.4 L
Canon TS-E 24mm F3.5 L
Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 L Fisheye
Canon EF-S 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 IS

Usually stick to the 24-70 on 5Dii but depending on where I'm going/what I'm shooting I will pick a couple of the others to use too. 35mm and fisheye my favourites at the moment :)

Bag normally consists of:

Canon 24-70 II f2.8
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 70-200 f2.8
Sigma 10-20mm f3.5
Sigma 35mm f1.4
5D MK III
60D

And we've got two of each.

And then sometimes a Canon 100mm Macro but only really for specialist work, and we've got a Canon 24mm f2.8 purely for aerial work really. Think that's it!

The Samsung any good?

Yeah its great particularly its vari-angle EVF which is frankly brilliant. Noise performance at high ISO isn't in the same league as the Fuji / Nikon's but its fine for me and the AF is again fine for a hobbyist such as myself but I wouldn't want to rely on it for critical stuff.

It has a capacitive touch screen and a superb menu system that works much like it does on your phone and the NX Android remote control app is a joy to use.

The lenses are what brought me to the system though, they are all pretty much tack sharp and don't cost the earth, I got the 12-24mm and 45mm f1.8 for less than £400 all in as an example and the 30mm f2.0 panacke is a must. I'll be investing in the Samsung 85mm f1.4 shortly which is by all accounts an absolute stonker of a lens.

It's all been supported very well up to press as well, I've had 4 firmware updates for the NX30 which have adding things such as linking focal to minimum shutter speed in Auto ISO and metering by AF point, several of the lenses have had firmware updates as well which are updated by using the camera to flash the firmware to the lens which works brilliantly.

[*]Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens - for animals/zoos because I can't afford/justify a better telephoto :) - incidentally this lens is currently ridiculously cheap, I paid nearly £300 for it 2 years ago - it's now under £140 + a further £25 off from Canon! (offer ends 21 Jan). It's not L glass but a fantastic budget performer IMO.

What lenses/purpose combos are you guys wielding ? :)

I actually paid £99inc for mine last August and as you say a great lens I have only recently moved to using a DSLR camera so still on a massive learning curve.

I am currently seeking a bag http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18648188 to carry a few items.

Canon 5D Mark III
Sigma 35mm 1.4
Canon 135 f2L
Canon 40mm 2.8 STM

Sony A7 + Zeiss 35mm 2.8

Ricoh GR

ThinkTank Retrospective 7

A typical day trip will be:
D800
24-70mm f/2.8
70-200mm f/2.8 VR
300mm f/4.0 + 1.4xTC
Gitzo 3531S tripod with RRS BH-55

I am looking to add the 14-24mm f/2.8 and ideally I want sow,thing longer, 500mm f/4.0
After playing with the new 300mm f4.0 VR PFi am very tempted to swap out my 300mm

For events I put the 24-70mm on the D800 and an 85mm f/1.8 on a D7000 hanging round my neck, with a 35mm f/1.8 DX and 70-200mm f/2.8 in the bag.

I have a load of other lenses although recently sold my 16-85mm which I loved and a trusty sigma 10-20mm.

I'm getting close to my dream setup but there is a lot I would like to add:
14-24mm f/2.8 and 18-35mmto cover the wide end on FF with a choice of filter options.
Nikon 20mm f/1.8 sigma 35mm f1.4 primes
Nikon 24mm f/2.8 PC
And the aforementioned 300mm and 500mm f/4.0

Nothing like the collection in here (but nothing like the tog either :P)

  • Nikon Nikkor AF-S 35mm 1:1.8G
  • Nikon Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR
  • Nikon Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G ED VR
  • Nikon Nikkor AF-S 10-24mm 1:3.5-5.4G ED
  • Nikon Nikkor AF 50mm 1:1.8D
  • Nikon Nikkor AF 70-200mm 1:4-5.6 D
