Less than a month now 'till my operation

I want to be able to eat a bowl of Cornflakes, lol. Feel like a pregnant woman with cravings for foods I've just had to avoid.

Good luck to you mate.

i also had an op date through today for keyhole surgery to my knee. Nothin as serious as yours, but still I'm excited :)

It'll be great when you can :)
My only extremely limited experience of not being able to eat the foods I want was when I had gastric flu over Christmas a couple of years ago, could hardly eat for 2 weeks without regretting it quickly afterwards. When i could finally eat again, it was amazing! Everything tasted so delicious because I could finally enjoy it again. Ended up appreciating a lot of new food I hadn't tried before :)

Dad had keyhole on his knee. Been great for him because it heeled so fast and he loves his sports. Back into competitive squash now it's that good.

It's great when I can finish a meal without a problem, even when it takes a while... Even with your bog standard pasta bolognese I'm really chuffed! :D

I'll be on a mission to make up for lost time. I've got a few people offering to take me out for a meal once I'm fully healed up!

Another good day again today. Although I initially struggled with my usual Thursday night takeaway, once it started going down it was all good. It's the nicest feeling ever, and makes me appreciate how much you can take little, natural, things for granted.

(When I feel positive about eating, it tends to help. This thread has been very theraputic.)

Sounds good, what did he have done?

I've having cartiledge removed on my left one. Hoping to be back playing football in 3 months.

Only just read this thread and want to say all the best with the op mate. Once your over the op it's going to be like a new begining! Good luck!:)

I think he had a lot of debris and fluid on the knee cap. He had 3 tiny incisions, and was walking the dog, albeit slowly, within a couple of days. It wasn't particularly painful, just swollen afterwards. He spent some time building it back up once it had settled down, but he was certainly getting back to normal playing sports after about 3 months I'm sure - he's 46 this year.

Good old private healthcare! :D

Thanks very much, and I hope so :)

Not had a bad few days. Friday's meals were on the whole successful affairs, although my school fish & chips had to be microwaved after last lesson (I have lunch then 5th period).

Today we went to TGI Fridays for a spot of lunch mid-shop. Timing wasn't great, as I had a haricut booked for 2, but left it till 1 to get some food. I paid the bill, left Laura and her auntie (and half my lunch!), got my haircut, came back 20 mins later and resumed eating.

It's the first place I've been to in a long time where the waitress hasn't looked at me like I was either:

a) Wierd
b) Wasteful/not hungry
c) Being critical of the food (usually with the question - 'is everything ok?!' in a 'is he a food critic' panicked sort of way :p

She just told me to take as long as I needed, and even got my dessert in a box for me to take home. Even better, we were a short walk from the loos and were relatively secluded.

I'm now slowly drinking my Leffe and eating nibbles, struggling a bit.

Good luck with the op dude.

I couldn't go through what your going through, i love my food too much!

Thanks.

If I didn't love my food as much as I do, I would probably be massively underweight. It's only my desire to cram down lots of yummy stuff that has kept me a normal weight! :D

I've had a few crappy days, really struggled for a couple of days. Had lasagne on Tuesday, which is a meal that goes down a treat or makes me struggle for a few days after... it was the latter :(

Worse is, of course, that the food is degrading in my throat. I end up drinking loads of water to try and flush it away, one way or another.

Seem to be alright at the minute though. Ate my dinner relatively easily (had to microwave my fries) and had a yoghurt. Going to try some cookies and cream ice cream now :D

This time in 2 weeks I'll be full of CO2, rolling my shoulders to move it and moaning for pain relief, lol. Hopefully they'll let me home same day. I've got DS games at the ready though :)

Well I've had a fairly pants couple of weeks, actually feel quite ill at the minute - not had much food in me and I've had a distinct lack of sleep too. I just have to keep reminding myself it's this Weds, and then I'm on the way to recovery. Just hope I don't feel more ill than I do at present so they refuse to operate :(

Thank you all. Starting to perk up a bit after a couple of Paracetamol and a Redbush tea with 2 sugars (!). On the second cup of Redbush now, this stuff keeps me going!

Going to attempt a meal that's not too acidic, carb-based, or anything green/salad. Pretty stuck for ideas, lol.
