Little Criminals (1995) aired on the tv once in a blue moon and near impossible to get, really good film tho

EDIT - just noticed he cited The Untold Story - excellent film and the best out of those I've seen from Billy Tang.

I bet most people haven't seen the 9th gate though so i do think it is one that slipped under the radar even if it is johnny depp

but seriously theres a few after dark movies that are very good.shogun assassin , the victim samo hung and magnificent butcher samo hung,iron monkey, most of them are great martial arts films.

I caught it on TV late at night once and loved it, I've never seen it on TV since, not seen the DVD in shops, and never heard anyone mention it. I really enjoyed it.. quite slow and mellow but very good.

Rabbit Proof Fence is one that springs to mind at this late hour. Not mainstream but a good film that makes you think.

I'd be tempted to also add Once we were Warriors but I know many people know that one.

Lives of Others and Pan's Labarynth are well known but stunning.

Koyaanisqatsi. The imagery blended with Philip Glass's music is just stunning. It isn't really a film though, just a load of footage put to music. Nowhere else will you see a 3min shot of a Boeing 747 taxiing on a runway.
