Lesson learned: Don't buy cheap Chinese tat from Tesco

As a Dyson owner, i'd say avoid them! :)

Useless tat that randomly cuts out and the special pet hair head doesn't work!

And how do you know how it was being used ?

No retailer is going to be that bothered about sorting out a replacement/refund for a £35 hoover. It's not worth them potentially losing a customer over. They probably won't even bother sorting out a collect and debit with the real manufacturer.

If it was a £600 washing machine, maybe.

Maybe, but is a £35 hoover built with the same internals as a £200 one?

No but whats that got to do with China, a worse quality product built anywhere, is a worse quality product.

I was going to say what Bursny said, its incredibly unlikely something like that on fire would set light to wooden flooring.

As for it being a 1700W appliance, you what? Once its blown, its blown, its just a pile of plastic and dust on fire. 1700W doesn't turn into a raging inferno or fuel the fire, its an electrical appliance using electricity to drive the motor in the hoover, the fire has entirely nothing to do with the amount of energy the appliance uses.

Do they teach science in school anymore......... or common sense?

get a Sebo, a piece of precision german engineering. Had one for years and is never gone wrong. Only downside is that it is a bag jobby so you need to chnage the bag quite regularly.

The reason I always hated Dyson's were, sure their suction didn't reduce over time, but best case scenario, a normal hoover with an empty bag had a LOT more suction to start with, as long as you empty the bag regularly a normal hoover always had far higher suction than a Dyson. I don't know if thats changed, my parents Dyson other than breaking down fairly frequently, still suffers from the inability to pick up a huge amount of dust because its just weak ass crap.

Miele isn't a tough call, with almost any household appliance a Miele = no problems, 20 years life with very little trouble. Expensive to start off, but MORE than worth the extra with the lack of problems you will have over the years and the amount of time a Miele anything will last. Looking to pick up a Miele dishwasher when the new models are all out in a month as talking to Miele direct, they said everywhere should have sales on as they want to ditch the old models.

Massive love to our Dyson DC04, been going strong forever and still works just as well as the day we bought it.

Have tried a few others but nothing comes close, especially with our dog's hair.

Oh also, Henry rocks, nothing better to clean my car out with and has excellent suckage, shame it requires a bag but it is old tech now.
