Are You Ready!!!

September is the month when 40nm next generation architecture, something we call GT300 should get taped out. We can confirm that this has already happened and that some VIP analysts and investors have already laid eyes on this DirectX 11 card.

If you do the math, it takes at least six weeks after tape out to release the card and get it ready for full scale production and if the tape out occurred on the first days of September, the full production can start in the middle of October. It is always at least six weeks.

Nvidia was always aiming for a launch close to Black Friday, the first Friday after Thanksgiving and this year it is on November 27th. It is important to launch the product before this date as most of the shopping is usually done around this date.

If something goes wrong with Nvidia's schedule, they can easily start shipping in December time, but the worst case scenario is to show the card in the next few weeks just to keep the fanboys comfortable with waiting for the next Nvidia's DirectX 11 offering and ship it as soon as possible.

You might remember they did this with Geforce GTX 295 last year, and it did work for them.

Lets Play Cards!!!

I also posted in the big Nvidia yields bad thread, that Nvidia have confirmed the yields are fine, so here we go, here we go, here we go.... :D

should be tasty. lets see how they compete on price too

After reading the "leaked" specs with gddr5 memory, 32 cores and a 512 bit bus I suspect expensive but NV will reclaim the fastest single gpu crown.

Whether it will be worth the extra money over the 5870 remains to be seen.

and the battle begins...we'll see what NV can come up with, oh please don't show this thread to Virus2K lol...I've banned him from RMAing his two beloved 5870s for whatever reason... :p

but I do feel the price will be very very high from NV going on from previous releases (GTX295 anyone?)...but good to hear they are getting ready for Nov 27th release...

Sounds interesting :)

In one of the reports I'd read from Fudzilla, the 40nm yields were up from TSMC. If the GT300 is supposedly a brand new design of chip, rather than just a revision, then it will be interesting to see how it compares to the 5xxxx series which is just an evolution of last gen :)

GT300 yields are fine?
Taped out in stores by NOV 2008?

This all sounds too good to be true....

We will see..........
I tend to believe Charlie more than Fud tbh.

But when it eventually does comes out. I think it will be faster than 5870 but only by little. 10% max and its going to cost £450 quid.

Well I didn't expect nvidia to go we will be struggling to get the gtx 300 chips out this year but the 40nm shrinkage of the 8800's are going well.

Hope they get there big guns out this year but I’ll need more than nvidia saying everything will be ok the week a rival launches a new product.

But cautiously optimistic
