Let the Probing begin! :)

Am I the only one curious to try some Agent Picolax?

You really don't want to try it, it's that god awful whoooosh as your innards turn to liquid & exit your rear end at 200mph that's quite eye watering, & the second dose is just frankly down right vindictive of them.

I had a colonoscopy last year. Fortunately negative and diagnosed as IBS.
The actual exam is not bad at all, though I had the sedative, which was quite nice! Just really relaxed.

No pain afterwards, and I was advised not to drive for at least 24 hours. Sedative kicked in at home and I was dead to the world for a good 12 hours.

As others said, by far the worst part was the clean out the day or so before. Having said, the actual action wasn't as bad as the taste of the liquid. It was really really sweet, and made me gag drinking it.

Just get a few books and Internet and sat in the bathroom :p. Each dose takes about two hours to work and then it really does just stop, quite suddenly I found.

Thank you for finding the Agent Picolax thread again... I was looking for it to forward to someone the other day. He now has something awaiting him in his work email. ;)

All I'll say is... Enjoy... :D

had one at the same time as an endoscopy, as has been mentioned the laxatives are... erm  mine didn't kick in till later in the day before but when you need to go you really NEED to go...

the actual procedure was fine, the endoscope hurt my throat a bit after but I was sedated for the whole procedure and kind of drifting off when looking at the camera footage, the camera up the bum was no big deal at all

Sadly, as I said in OP

I do not have the option of a sedative, It doesn't work for me!

I Either have to be totally zonked out (As an in patient with an overnight stay) or just take it as is comes :(

Ah, didn't see that spoiler initially.
I don't imagine it will be too bad. I was also given Buscopan which relaxes the bowel muscles, so if you can have that it should be fine.

Having spoken to others who have had them done, seems not everyone even gets offered a sedative anyway.

i had this about 7 years ago and had to drive myself to the clinic where they did it, so i didnt get a sedative. Worst part was at the end, when the air came out......

Had a camera down my throat a few weeks ago here and that was probably more uncomfortable at first and it cost me $285 for the 15 mins of the docs time and $385 for the use of the camera :(

hope it all goes well.

Oh No the Gopro up the bum , plus the hardcase Gzzzz...

I had it done last yr, I'm 35... It wasn't that bad really, all I remember was telling the nurse how fit she was in the recovery room.. Oh and passing lots of wind haha

I had one in October. Sedative was a complete waste of time. The procedure isn't bad at all. Didn't have any discomfort until they were most of the way around and they couldn't get the scope to descend down the hepatic flexure, it kept looping back on itself. All the discomfort afterwards is from the amount of air they pump into you. I wouldn't advise farting if not sat on the toilet though :) :) :)

Pretty much sums it up,had 2 now and it's not as bad as people make it out to be,the worst part is drinking the liquid, put some orange juice or any flavor in it (its ok to do this by the way).

Who ever makes that liquid taste nice will be a rich man :)

You could have trial run with something like this.

And yes this is mine.

I had a camera down the throat about three years ago as I had a low ferritin count and they wanted a look down to see all was ok. A week later I had a camera up the jacksy to investigate the same ...... In pleasant conversation, the consultant asked what I did for a living as he started ........ The following ten minutes suggested he'd been pulled for speeding at some point !!!!!!!!!!!!

At risk of suspension, I'd rather have it up the backside than down the throat any day of the week ! You'll be fine OP.

Seconded! (Except for the appointment with 'Agent Picolax')

I had the throat camera a couple of years before the 'exit only' camera. As my brother had recently had one before me and broadcast the fact that he'd had it without a sedative I had take the same route for prides sake. One awful awful feeling like you are going to choke right there and then experience that seems to last forever!.

I had throat cancer 7 years ago and having an Endoscopic (throat camera) inspection was a regular occurrence and I remember one instance with a consultant I had a really difficult relationship with and to be honest with the amount of patient complaints against him he really should not still be practicing.
But on this occasion he decided to be particularly rough with the camera insertion which is via the nose until I gently cupped his scrotum and very calmly told him that to continue with his rather rough approach would result in a automatic clenching of the fingers of my hand as a result, not surprisingly he was very gentle from then on and fortunately for us both he is on my blocked list.
