Let the ranting begin....

It would seem so. Whatever happened to just getting along?
What evidence is there that we are not all just getting along?
Are there riots or something or are people not allowed to be concerned by massive influxes of people to their country?

If they cant speak english then its pretty obvious they cant give anything to the country, so why were they allowed to come into the country in the first place IMO.

But they can work for all the other polish people?
To be fair they might be able to speak English with more aplomb than they can read it.

Not quite enough to make tonnes of villages exclusively English then.

Indeed. But it still provides me enough of an excuse never to visit Spain :)

Spain is littered with towns wher they only speak English.
Really? LOL.
How many English people live in Spain then?

Why only comment on the spainish part of the quote? Does that mean you agree that France is littered with English speaking towns which would be my point anyway??

Not that it really matters. I dont think there can be much arguement for English people being the great linguists of the world.

No reason other than I couldn't be bothered to type Spain and France at the time. Usually Spain is cited in that old cliched strawman argument so I just used that.

France has even less Brits than Spain though :)

I am supprised! Whilst I was living in France (only for 6months mind) there seemed to be English people everywhere so Spain must be pretty packed.

English people seem to give different types of problems then immigrants to England (namely buying up houses as holiday homes leaving locals unable to afford to live in their home town) they still cause problems. I just think its a strange double standard. We expect to be able to buy houses abroad, speak English whilst abroad, read English papers, goto see original version English language films and watch English TV channels when we go away, both to live and holiday.

I'd be interested to know the numbers of English people who have emigrated, and the percentage who speak the local language. And while I cant claim to know the numbers I know that there are many towns full of English people and we are often thought of by locals as some people on here think of the Polish it seems.

I've never heard complaints or outrage against papers printed in English abroad, so why should we expect people coming to England to make do with English text papers?

There are reputed to be 600,000 poles here since the gates opened. I doubt there is anything like that number of brits in France or spain.

Poles come here for work, they need us.

Brits sem to go to spain for the weather and beaches and take lots of money for them. They are welcomed because they bring cash and wealth. The reverse is true of those who come to the UK.

So it's because the polish are poor that they shouldnt be allowed polish papers? And we get English papers abroad because we're rich?

I assume in both cases the papers are being paid so whats the difference?
