So what would you pay a train driver, in charge of the safety of hundreds of people?
£30k?
£25k?
£15k?
Do you want someone with a brain, who can think and react to possible hazards in a timely fashion, possibly preventing accidents... or do you want your trains driven by the cheapest possible driver they can find?
Nothing. Most trains and especially the tube should be automated IMO. I imagine they will be over the coming years.
It's just like those men that used to wind down the barriers at level crossings. Obsolete nowadays.
