Lets go back in time, for one day..

Plot twist. She was wearing a seatbelt, but the act of a random stranger telling her to wear it made her remove it causing her death.

Well done, you killed princess diana! Not yet, but you will one day in the future.

Now I'm definitely telling her to wear it!

:p

I'd take a notepad with me and win a few million on the lottery. Then I'd use that money to hire body guards and invest all my money into curing cancer and other similar conditions.

I'm sure someone would try to kill me. But it would be worth dying for if my contribution could save other people.

I would like to go back to 11.Aug.1999 which was the day of the last total eclipse in the UK. I was in the correct place (Devon/Cornwall) for the totality path but it was cloudy where I was so wasn't much to see except it going pitch black for 90 seconds - 2 minutes. I would use the historic weather data available to locate one of the few sunny spots and obviously would use my Samsung S23 Ultra (high tech stuff in 1999!) to film it.

You wanted to be exactly where I was. Just north of Metz, on the lee side of a hill. There was thick cloud but it was dumping its rain on the other side of the hill so there was a patch of clear sky and the eclipse went straight through it. Awesome!

The day a 100 million EuroMillions jackpot was drawn and me with the winning numbers jotted down.

I'd just go back to Monday: Tuesday's jackpot was more than enough for me.

Going by how time travel generally works in movies!

Ah but you'd put your faith in that being true? I wouldn't.

I'd choose to go back to a point where I can rely on my knowledge of future trends to succeed, rather than very small micro events like the lottery. Things like bitcoin or property are obvious ones that would be likely to roughly turn out the same way in a new timeline.

Also it's not the free gift many might think. What if you can't take anything back with you? You land in say 50s Britain all ready to buy up property, but you have no money and no identity. You'd need to get a job, build up some cash. Very easily could end in failure.

To the day the very first bank opened that still exists in some form now. I’d deposit one penny in a savings account.

Then I’d come back to now. I’d be rich, rich, beyond the dreams of avarice.

5 February 2016, when AMD shares were only $1.98 each and put my life savings into them, I would be minted now.

If we are not talking going back to win the lottery. And talking personal..

I don't know. Probably to this picture.
Never been on sea when been that calm. It was super late and very very hot.
No mechanical noise at all. Was totally serene.

Why is there a man angry at a mermaid?

Personal things aside I would go back to September 11 2001 and try and stop the plane hijackings.

As much as I agree with you, and even with knowing the findings from the 9/11 Commission, I don't think it would have been possible to prevent 9/11. I would have got the word out to the American authorities that 4 planes were about to be hijacked (from different airports) by a group of 4 or 5 terrorists aboard each plane. No one would have believed me due to the event being so surreal. Also, we don't know where one of the planes was headed anyway because it crashed in a field. Then if someone did take on board what I said was about to happen, but they still took no action, then I would have probably been detained/interrogated afterwards due to me having insider knowledge of the attacks.

It would be a challenge in such a short timeframe but I would hope with enough specific info like flight numbers and passenger names that someone would take it seriously. Some of the terrorists had box cutters so if your info matched their findings they would be foiled. If the flights went ahead anyway at least they would be alerted to the possibility of the cockpit being breached. I would do it all from a telephone booth so if they ignored me and tried hunting me down I can make a quick exit.

simples. Rather than mess around with stopping the attacks just go back and remove this person

with him killed at birth no 9 / 11. No war on terror. No Iraq / Afghan war. No massive 3 trillion USA debt

The only way to prevent it would be to call in a bomb hoax to the airport just before the plans took off so they'd be grounded. But they'd just plan it for another day anyway. Frankly it would be one of those Nexus events that is going to happen no matter what you do unless you were an actual FBI agent on the day and made the right call.

Someone else would just pick up the slack, there's so much universal hate of the US from that part of the world anyone would just step up. It's the whole kill Hitler as a baby thing. If someone did that we'd still have WW2 and we'd just have someone elses name on our lips.

The day bitcoin was announced. Easy from there.
Still kicking myself about that one. Soon after someone came to our office and did a presentation on Bitcoin and offered to sign up to a website to get a free Bitcoin. I dismissed it as a fad and a failure of a system, while was technically right there was a lot of money to made on the way
