Just ignore him.

In the scheme of things it's like two people arguing who has the best sunscreen before a nuclear bomb goes off.... utterly pointless.

Quality. :D

Its a testiment to my small mind that after hundreds of 306TD jokes on these forums, I still laugh every time :(
or more depressingly the same joke hundreds of times.
the phrase "change the ******* record" springs to mind.
all we need now is some muppet to do the "think of the children" thing and we have the full set.

You see you're all wrong tbh!

That Renault could slaughter most cars on the road.......why????

The word 'Extreme' in the model title suggests to me that something could be seriously sporty about this car and all who dare challenge it should do so at their own risk!

EDIT: 'think of the children'

My mate has a Clio 1.4 Extreme 4 16v 100bhp.

He reckons his could/would/has:-

A)Beat my Saxo VTR in a drag
B)Have a higher top end than my Saxo VTR
C)Would leave me in the twisties
D)A Better suspension than my Saxo because it is sports (eh)
E)Looks more meaner than my Saxo

Now, I thought I would ask for an unbiast oppinion on ere. Obviously I reckon he's talkin poo poo because i'm not sure if his really does have a sporty suspension etc. I'm not the mug who paid 5.5k for a Clio. (His is a 55 plate). It's not a dig at the guy, I just want to find out whats actually better. We both reckon our cars our better so I thought i'd let you lot decide.

Obviously it doesn't have the image, and the interior is nicer in the clio but overall whats the better car to drive to walk away with a smile on your face???

Be Gentle :D

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha............................Tee He He He He.................................

The saxo is quicker then the Clio, better handling and looks a lot better. However the clio is infinately more comfortable than the saxo and would fair better in an accident.

I owned a VTR for 6months before I traded it in for a final gen VTS. My views on the vtr. Its gearing is better than a 1.4 clio and its 8v engine is imo better. If it were the 1.6 clio it would be a different matter.

I have driven all the clios and they are worlds appart from the 172/182 whereas a VTR is a VTS with a lower power engine and thats it oh and on the later revisions the vts had a nicer trim on the interior with airbags in the seat.

But to the question at hand, the vtr would win as long as you haven't put anything other than a proper enclosed induction kit on (viper or bmc tested and proved) and messed about with the bore size of the exhaust and/or a decat which give mixed results at best.

As for top speed its irrelevent because the time it takes for either to reach 100 let alone 115-120 you will have aged to the extent that you want to forget all this racing lark and instead go out and buy a Jaguar or Volvo.
