Me and the mrs are having an argument about lettuce, yes we lead such an exciting life.

I'm saying it's a vegetable and it even comes under the list of vegetables on wikipedia so i must be wrong :p

She says it's a salad, and then said it was a salad vegetable.

To me a salad is something that comprises of vegetables, a salad is the overall result, and a lettuce for instance, is a vegetable.

What are your thoughts?

Andy

That's like saying steak is not meat.

Lettuce is a vegetable. Now go and gloat; it's not often a woman says something so totally incorrect without some form of way out, bask in the glory.

It's like saying a cat is not an animal as it is a mammal.

A cereal like wheat is just part of a vegetable. A lettuce is a vegetable - full stop.

Stick to your guns mate - even if it means no sex for a month :-)

vegetable
/vejitb’l, vejtb’l/

• noun 1) a plant or part of a plant used as food. 2) informal, derogatory a person who is incapable of normal mental or physical activity, especially through brain damage.

— ORIGIN originally in the sense growing as a plant: from Latin vegetabilis ‘animating’, from vegetare ‘enliven’.

PK!

Just point out to her that there are many types of salads, eg. Pasta Salad, Potato Salad, Fruit Salad, Spicey Bean Salad etc. and that after all she is just a woman and biologically they have tiny brains and are incapable of coherrant thought!

Tell her to calm down and think about kittens and embroidery. (don't actually do this as you may well never have sex again).
