Ok first I was going to order a 26" Sammy, then I was considering splurging on a Toshiba 32WLT58 instead.

Now I've just seen the LG 32LX2R in a shop with a high-def feed and I was very impressed. The screen looked the business, and the image quality was fantastic.
Oddly it looked quite small in store, compared to the 37" and 40" screens anyway, so I'm now thinking that 26" is definately out :p

It was £999 instore, but I'm considering making a move for it, maybe they'll take £925 or £950, which is about the same price I was going to pay for the Toshiba online..

You can get it for £850 online if you look around :)

Yeah I know I could get it cheaper, but if I can buy it local for £50 or £75 extra, than that's something i'd be willing to do. Makes it much easier if there are any problems! :)

Sooo tempted to go and buy the thing today :D

Right, just went backto the big retail store, and met somebody who actually knew what he was talking about! I almost fainted with shock :D

Anyway we chatted about Xbox360, PC use etc.. and he knew that I was keen, so I then brought up the price. I said I could get it for £825 online, so how close could they get. After a while he said he'd do me £895 + free delivery if I wanted it.

Sounds pretty good to me, so around £50 extra for the ability to return it to a local store should any problems arise. Just need to check my finances, but other wise I think I might be making a purchase today :D

Have you spent that money???

No :(
I got held up so couldn't get back for closing time. I've got the guy's name and they said they'd get it in stock in 3 days. So if I ordered in the week I could have it for the weekend!

I'm just putting a few things on Ebay now to offset some of the cost :D
Plus trying to find some space to put the damn thing!

Can somebody with the 32" 32LX2R please measure the actual LCD screen size (horizontal and vertical)?

Sounds silly I know, but please indulge me :D

I know theres some specs on the official site.. have you looked there?

Dont know the height, but just brought one and the width was the issue, as its under the stairs! its 36"

When you get it hooked up to your 360 could you grab some photos? and give us an impression of the scaling etc please?

Would be greatly appreciated!

Well I went back to the big retailer again today.. I asked if I could try a few DVDs with the LG HDMI DVD player that they also sell. They said they couldn't plug it in, in case it damaged the TV or some other nonsense (read: can't be arsed) :D

Anyway.. they said if I buy the TV, I can take it back no quibbles for upto 21 days! That's the benefit of buying local I guess.

Bizarrely they had a sign in the shop that said "Broken pixels are within manufacturers' tolerances and so are not considered a fault". Doesn't stop you taking the TV back within 21 days though. I guess it applies if you find a broken pixel 3 months later and then want it swapped.

So what i'll probably do is go in tomorrow and order the TV along with the LG HDMI player, then try it out for a week. If i'm happy then i'll keep it, otherwise it goes back! :p

I got one of these about a week ago and I can say i'm really impressed with it, I paid 1100 which inc 3 years extra warranty which is unlimited returns/fix's the lady in the shop even told me after a year and a half just throw it down the stairs and l'll get the lastest model or the money i paid for it! I don't know if I can say which shop so I won't.

The picture you get via DVI when using it with a PC is amazing I couldn't belived how good it was and its jaw dropping when using it with my xbox360 via HD cable using 1080i, normal TV isn't the best picture but its fine and I can't complain about it, I use 4:3 ratio when viewing normal TV which I find gives a better pciture than widescreen/full and this TV also offers PiP!.

Id advise if you go to return the set within the 21 days over a pixel fault your going to cause yourself bother.

If your not happy with the set even if its got a dud pixel dont even mention the pixel(s) just put your unhappiness down to something else.

I tested my V40 at home to my 36" CRT for over a week before deciding to keep it and yes sometimes local stores with a little extra expense can be well worth it. A good dealer shouldnt be hard to work with.

To get the very best out of this set look into HTPC software options.
MCE along with many other individual programs (theatretek VLC MPC) will really look excellent with 720p and 1080i material even DVDs should look better upscaled from a PC than a standalone player.

Well went in and bought the TV today along with the LG upscaling HDMI player..
Unfortunately I have to wait till next week before getting the TV :(

Problem is, if I get a dead pixel, and I return it, they'll give me a refund but I doubt they'll give me another TV without good reason! :(
