LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

Well this obvious, but does not justify its price in order to be competitive against X34P and AW. It has some better specs, but people may go to these two if prices are around 800$ during black friday instead of LG, which is almost the same and is going to be priced at 1400$, so 600$ more. DOA for me.

Yeh. $1200 would have been competitive.

My prediction is that resellers will offer it up for $1199 with a $1399 to entice.

Look at the Dell MSRP compared to the actual offers. Fun and games with the sales department.

They will have to... I don't see them shifting many units at $1400/£1200. There is a limit to this sky high pricing nonsense!

That MSRP is unfortunate. We'll see how it shakes out once they finally hit the streets in a month or so, but I can't justify dropping $1400 on that panel when I can probably get the AW for around $1000 (or less).

950G is $1400 in the US. Yeh good luck selling that when the Alienware constantly goes on sale for ~$850

From what I've seen in the past, at least in the US, is that LG uses a higher MSRP compared to street price. I would fully expect it to be $1200-$1300 at retailers.

MSRPs are aways high. My 34UC98 had MSRP of $1200 if I remember well, but I bought it right after it started to appear in shops in Feb 2016, for 3800 PLN in Poland, which at the time was $950 and thats including 23% VAT (although many displays in EU match US price even with VAT).

But looking at how it was on Amazon US, it reached $950 mark after over a year: https://camelcamelcamel.com/LG-34UC98-W-34-Inch-UltraWide-Thunderbolt/product/B019O78DPS

Pretty shocking to see that something was actually cheaper in Europe than US. Displays are one of the few markets that match the US price or sometimes are even slightly better. But we pay like 30% more for GPUs for example.

I expect it to priced anywhere from 5200 to 6000 PLN, just like 2080 Ti. And I am most certainly getting it. I need new display because my almost 3 year old UC98 has so many stuck pixels visible on dark backgrounds that it looks like some freaking Christmas Tree, while alternatives like Alienware or Acer are not good enough for many reasons. Not going to cheap out on something that I will spend 4-12 hours a day with for next 2-3 years. Just release it already.

We'll see. I can't wait a year for the price to drop, and it's not going to be discounted for black friday or anything like that since it's brand new. If it really isn't available any cheaper than $1300-1400 I'll probably get the Alienware for $900 instead. The LG is better, but it's not $500 better.

Not yet. Should be with me tomorrow, but it’s going to take a couple of weeks to get the testing done and review written for both screens

I can't wait to see your strobe backlight clarity and brightness numbers on the F model. I just may pick one up.

Looking over the specs on LGs site it seems only the freesync model supports HDR400. So the gsync doesnt at all? wonder what that will mean for picture quality.

Nothing. HDR 400 is marketing, no HDR at all.
GSync version has no HDR 400 because uses the old GSync module with DP1.2.

As mentioned, ignore this. It is meaningless. It will accept an HDR signal and you might see a slight difference in the handful of YouTube videos and HDR video content that's out there (Netflix etc.), but game support is rubbish and HDR 400 is such a low bar for the standard that it really offers nothing tangible in terms of visual performance over the 'G' version.

Anyone with an Nvidia GPU should buy the G-Sync version... unless you're OK with tearing and stuttering in your gameplay, which will be unavoidable all of the time with the Freesync version... unless you have an AMD GPU of course.
