LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

@joker666

The monitor lottery is hit and miss at the best of times.
You must have nerves of steel to import a single unit in from the US as it would have been handled and moved a fair bit during transit.
I don't like the whole 100hz overclockable to 120hz thing (and all the other ultrawide's that are doing the same workaround).
Basically they are running the g-sync module out of spec which in my opinion makes developing a fault over time far more likely.

BTW with that RGB back lighting anyone that's had one beer too many will think they have made it to the dance floor at the local nightclub. :p

This isn't the first monitor to overclock this model G-Sync module, so this is not new territory. Maybe @Baddass or @PCM2 can comment on general failure rates of overclocked monitors?

Hi all, pre-orders have shipped and they are now in stock and what is on the website is free stock!

Due to CRAZY demand for the Freesync and less demand for the G-Sync I've raised the price for the F model to £1149.95.

At the same time dropping the price of the G-sync variant from £1199.99 to £1149.95.

I'm surprised how quickly the prices have increased on both these models. Last November they launched at £989 for the F model and £1099 for the G model. Since then, the pound is now much stronger against the USD and the Euro, however, prices of both models have increased, with the F model now 16% more expensive than 4 months ago.

got the F model yesterday, coming from the AW3418DW. kinda concerned about the relatively high glow and bleed in lower and upper left corner - even at 26 brightness/65 contrast - damn that thing is bright AF (only had minor bleed in the lower right on the alienware.

i love how bright it is, love the wider gamut and higher refresh than the alienware. just not sure about the glow/bleed, i don't see it under normal conditions, but in darker games/movies, you know....what was seen, cannot be unseen. dammit.

@Baddass if i send you a photo of the bleed with the specs (aperture, ISO, etc) could you tell me your opinion, if it's too excessive?

Interesting that you can tell the difference between 120 and 144 Hz refresh... something I always wondered about.

Hm not sure because the LG's are actually slower than the X34P or AW3418 (according to the TFTcentral review).

The X34P and AW3418DW use the LM340UW4 panel and the new LG monitors use the newer LM340UW5... both panels are produced by LG, and the LM340UW5 is literally the successor to the LM340UW4, so I think it is fair to say theese LGs are packing the latest IPS tech when comparing these models (some might argue otherwise if comparing to the 4k 144Hz panels).

Came in.

1 spazzing out pixel that is stuck from one angle and invisible from another.

1 dead pixel. Not a big deal, not that visible during normal use but quite noticeable when it has white background around it.

BLB minimal on default settings, essentially no BLB.

Downloaded new firmware but gaming still feels sluggish even at 144hz. Not sure what is the issue, why it feels that much less responsive than my current TN.

Decided to return it.

OCUK refuses to assist in returning the monitor.

DPD is giving only DPD Local options to return the monitor and "monitor" is on a restricted items list, so as I understand they will not deliver my monitor back to OCUK despite DPD delivering it to me.

Looks like I am going to have fun trying to return this thing. DPD guy on the phone said to give them a call on tuesday when sales team is back in working. Lets see what will happen then.

Edit: Has anyone here actually ever gotten an ultrawide without at least 1 dead pixel? Is it in the territory of miracles or myths?

No problem with my Dell UW, no dead pixels. It is a big concern how many of these monitors appear to be shipped out with issues.
