LG 47LA660V - My first impressions

Fat32, ntfs not possible for us mac folk :(

MarkeR, I was just choosing USB as an input.

Use the smart share app which is already there. It should automatically see the usb stick, it did with my external drive.

No idea though if it reads FAT though.

Pfft, get a real PC ;)

EDIT

Maccy, only thing I could find was this review from another river online shop..
2. This TV has 2 hi-speed USB2.0 input jacks, and it recognizes not just flash drives, but also USB external hard drives - even with NTFS file format. I tried both - FAT32 and NTFS, and also external drives with additional power source and without it, - this TV recognizes them all. It can play your video files (and other media too) directly from external hard drive! And it supports multiple video formats, including Matroska H.264. It also supports external subtitles for AVI files. I did not test multiple subtitles formats, but SRT works great. It supports standard Latin letters languages and Korean. No other encodings though.

Should've been clearer - it reads the USB fine and I can see the files, I get the error message when I try to play one of he mkv files.
Haven't tried Plex yet, although Plex didn't pick up the mkv files unfortunately.

I'd try Plex again, my whole library is made up of .mkv files. Are yours oddly named, or try a full re-scan in the Media Manager.

Something's wrong whatever the case, as the TV plays .mkv files fine either locally or streamed.

I have the same TV and it does mate..

Thanks!

does the TV auto switch into 3D mode? just need absolute confirmation before I spend £1,000

Plex transcodes the files, but obvoiusly doesn't support the embedded MVC stream within the MKV

My 2012 LG model doesn't support it, but wondered if the newer models did. Fancy something bigger as well

I have a 55 inch 620v and have ps3 media server app running on the MacBook Air and the tv will see and play everything on the computer wirelessly. It's an excellent solution.

No it won't

it will only play what the media server supports as it will have an LG profile for the TV to transcode

this is no good for 3D MVC content

This may not help, but figured I'd mention it.

I had a new LG tv the other day. Did a software update check. Updated.

Upon rebooting, it found another updated version.

Then a third new version.

-Check for updates again
